MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH TEACHER

Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart in Princeton, New Jersey is an independent Sacred Heart school for boys in Kindergarten through Grade 8. Rooted in the more than 200-year tradition of the Society of the Sacred Heart, the mission of Princeton Academy is to develop young men with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs. Princeton Academy has established itself as an outstanding school for boys that educates the whole child: intellectually, spiritually, morally, socially, emotionally, and physically. POSITION

Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart is seeking a full-time Middle School Math Educator for the 2024-2025 school year. This teaching position is for Grades 7 and 8. The program of study is Algebra 1 and Geometry.

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree required in Math or Math Education; advanced degree is preferred

  • Three or more years teaching experience in Middle School Math and a solid background in Algebra 1 and Geometry

  • Coaching experience and/or the ability to lead co-curricular activities is preferred

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • A strong belief in the mission and vision of Princeton Academy, the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria, and Princeton Academy’s Learning Principles for Boys is essential

  • A joyful and inspirational approach to teaching and learning along with an articulated desire to work with Middle School boys 

  • Teach four sections of Middle School math to seventh and eighth grade students and provide a strong foundation in knowledge, understanding, and application and promote logical thinking and problem-solving strategies

  • Serve as a Middle School homeroom teacher-advisor and carry out other assigned duties 

  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging lessons that align with the math curriculum, STEAM initiatives, and Standards for Mathematical Practice

  • A desire to inspire students by igniting their sense of curiosity and providing experiences in hands-on activities and project-based learning that nurture a sense of wonder

  • Use differentiated instructional strategies in content, process, and assessment to meet the specific needs and interests of students 

  • Integration of educational technology and a variety of mediums into classroom lessons 

  • Enthusiasm about working collaboratively to develop the math curriculum, improve pedagogy, and partner across grade levels and disciplines

  • Active participation in professional growth and reflection
