Principle Health Systems is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Dickinson, TX

Medical Assistant Opportunity:

Principle Health Systems is seeking a Medical Assistant for our rapidly growing pain management group (Principle Spine and Pain) based in South Houston, TX. This position will work out of our Texas City clinic location.

  • Full-time, permanent role
  • Pay: Hourly based on experience and tenure
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
  • Location: Position works out of Texas City ,but occasionally covers staffing in Pasadena or Clear Lake as needed

Medical Assistant Essential Job Functions:

  • Obtain and record patient medical histories, vitals, test results and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Verify patient information by interviewing patient and confirming purpose of visit.
  • Prepare notes for providers.
  • Complete records by recording patient examination, treatment and test results in the EMR (NextGen).
  • Prepare treatment rooms and ensure supplies are ready, order more when necessary.
  • Assist practitioners with medical procedures, examinations and other patient care.
  • Counsel patients by transmitting physician’s orders and questions about procedures.
  • Educate patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answer questions.
  • Coordinating the daily administrative activities, including scheduling, and patient medical record maintenance.
  • Updating and scanning patients' medical records, filling out insurance forms, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments as necessary for medication refills.
  • Responsible for sending patient recommendations and referrals to appropriate departments on a daily basis.
  • Ensuring all duties of clinical and pre-op are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for timely communication with patients.
  • Maintain communication with Nursing Supervisor regarding inventory orders.
  • Maintain communication with management prior to requesting provider scheduling changes.
  • Responsible for the weekly submission of medication logs for in-office procedures for each provider.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.

Medical Assistant Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical assistant role
  • Spanish speaking, preferred
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Required High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • A basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, converse, and listen; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and to reach with hands and arms.   • The employee must be able to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and be able to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • The employee must be able to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.
