Prepress/Digital Press Operator

Summary:

Prepare customer provided files for proofing, plating, and printing. Knowledge of desktop publishing applications and the ability to run digital press. Previous experience in the Prepress Department of a print shop is preferred, but we are happy to train anyone with the willingness and eagerness to learn

Tasks:

• Read work order as well as all notes and instructions.
• Use preflight software to check incoming work, to determine if all elements of the job conform to specifications.
• Identify missing/corrupt fonts, and replace, if possible.
• Identify missing images, and inform Account Representative.
• Perform basic troubleshooting
• concerns found in preflight procedure.
• Output printed and PDF proofs.
• Make offset printing plates.
• Work directly with the Account Service Representative/customer as necessary.
• Maintain good relations with other departments and customers.
• Maintain all equipment related to the department

Skills required:

• Knowledge of fonts.
• Knowledge of preflight software (XMF)
• Knowledge of desktop publishing software (Creative Cloud)
• Knowledge of our printing processes (digital and offset).

Job Qualifications:

• Has a thorough knowledge of printing operation, including offset printing, digital printing, die cutting, prepress and pre- and post-production functions.
• Knowledge of Macintosh and Windows operating systems.
• Previous experience or education in Graphic Arts.
• Demonstrate good attention to detail.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills.
• Basic troubleshooting skills.
• Work effectively without direct supervision.
• Work overtime as needed.

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
