Prisoner Visitation and Support (https://www.prisonervisitation.org) makes a difference in the lives of prisoners incarcerated in the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and Department of Defensive (DOD) who never or rarely receive visits from family or friends. Our nationwide network of 300 volunteer visitors helps prisoners cope with prison life and prepare for successful reentry into society. We are a nonprofit equal opportunity employer based in Philadelphia, PA.

The Executive Director reports to the PVS Board. PVS currently has a general operating annual budget of $200,000. The position is a part time salaried position of 30 hours per week that also offers benefits. Per BOP visitor regulations, the position requires a full background check.

Job Description

The PVS Executive Director is the organization’s chief executive officer and is responsible for:

• Overseeing the overall functioning of the organization and supervising all program staff
• Implementing all policies and services authorized by the PVS Board of Directors
• Leading PVS’ strategic planning process in conjunction with the Board and developing annual plans
• Serving as liaison to the Board and ensuring the Board and its committees are appropriately supported
• Overseeing the organization’s extensive volunteer program and working with the Board to develop and implement visitor training and educational programs
• Developing the organization’s annual budget and monitoring revenue and expenditures
• Implementing the annual fund campaigns, maintaining key relationships with existing funders, and cultivating major donors and organizational sponsors
• Working with the Board to develop a communications and integrated media strategy, including traditional, digital and marketing channels.

Qualifications

Required

• 5 years experience in a social justice or social service organization
• 3 years experience in nonprofit management
• 3 years experience raising funds directly for a nonprofit organization through individual donor cultivation and foundation grants
• 2 years experience in organizational budget management.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Preferred

• Experience working with volunteers
• Familiarity with the U.S. criminal justice system
• Experience with developing and implementing strategic plans
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with DonorPerfect.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
