Gardener – Mt. Desert, ME
Job description
DC, a private estate, is seeking a dedicated Gardener to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gardening and maintaining outdoor spaces and have good knowledge about plants. This position offers an opportunity to work in a one-of-a-kind environment where our team creates world-class landscapes. This is a seasonal position with opportunities for overtime, season extension, and career progression.
Work Location: Mt. Desert, ME (In person)
Responsibilities:
- Plant and maintain flower beds, shrubs, and trees
- Weed and cultivate gardens
- Prune and trim trees and bushes
- Monitor plant health and treat for pests or diseases
- Operate gardening equipment
- Assist with plant propagation
- Potting and maintaining plant containers
- Procuring flowers and creating floral arrangements on a weekly basis
Experience:
- Previous experience and/or education in gardening or landscaping
- Knowledge of plant care techniques
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills to maintain garden schedules and tasks efficiently
Skills:
- Ability to follow direction and layout plans
- Proficiency in garden maintenance practices
- Plant Identification and care

What to expect day-to-day:
A typical day for our crews starts at 7 AM.. We have a lunch break in the middle of the day and end at 3:30. We work Monday – Friday, with occasional changes based on scheduled events. This job requires frequent walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and getting your hands dirty. You can enjoy the woods and wildlife on Mt. Desert Island! We work with various types of plants and gardens, which keeps things interesting and teaches you different skills.
We are a small team of talented gardeners with different skillsets and backgrounds that allow us to tackle the wide range of challenges that we face. We hope you share our desire for perfection and love of the outdoors.
Pay and Experience:
Pay is based on experience. DC offers time and a half for any overtime
Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 hours per week
Driver’s License required
