The McClelland School is seeking an innovative, dynamic, collaborative teacher with a strong background in music and performing arts that can enhance and continue to develop the current program. The successful candidate will understand the developmental needs of students, preschool through eighth grade, and teach with charisma, humor, energy and interest in connecting and inspiring children. Additionally, the successful candidate must be flexible and an excellent communicator and collaborator.

Requirements:

• Has a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Music or Education

• Planning and conducting two all school musical events, as well as smaller events

throughout the school year.

• Utilize a wide repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and

contemporary, that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students

• Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse cultural backgrounds of students with

attention to the dynamics of multicultural classrooms

• Continue traditions that are an important part of the McClelland Community

• Participate in creating music curriculum

• Enthusiasm for working with children

• A commitment to progressive education

• Sound judgment and emotional maturity

• Ability and comfort to write narrative assessments

• Communicate with parents effectively and proactively

• Manage student behavior conducive to a positive learning environment

• Demonstrate cultural competence, both in and outside of classroom

• Act in a manner consistent with professional conduct

• Ability to work with technology to support, supplement and enhance teaching and

learning

• Communicate, work cooperatively and collaborate with specialty teachers,

administration, and other colleagues

• Work with colleagues to ensure school initiatives are being met

• Maintain gradebooks, attendance and all student records

• Attend and participate at faculty meetings and in-services

• Willingness to engage in all aspects of the McClelland Community
