- Must have Level I Trauma Experience
- Cerner EMR preferred
- Must pass Dysrhythmia Exam Prior to Acceptance, 80% passing score - 48 hours to complete
- Schedule Information
- self scheduling allowed as requests. shifts balanced with scheduler.
- 3 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule block
- 2 day unit orientation;12 hour nights, 4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks, 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Unit Specific Information
- UNIT: Cardiac Tele - Tower 7
- Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:3 or 1:4
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: CABG, MVR, STEMI, HF, Fundoplication, VATS Decordication, vascular repair
- Experience with post-op Cardiovascular Surgery Patients is highly recommended, but not required
- RNs required to titrate drips: Yes
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone
- Tele Techs located off unit and monitoring. RN should be able to interpret common rhythms. GE tele packs and monitors.
- Resource/Charge nurse ideally does not take patients
- Nurse aids: 1 PCT for 16 beds
- RT Equipment: Cpap, BiPap, HFNC
- Floating Requirements: All other applicable areas
- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided: Navy blue- scrubs not provided
- Additional Details
- Travel teams must have their own cars
- DAY 1 PASS FAIL SIMs Lab: All RNs will be expected to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion & central line dressing changes, with the exception of NyICU & ED. ED does Foley catheter insertion but does port-a-cath insertion instead of central line dressing change.
- SIMs lab is pass/fail & nurses have been termed during SIMs Lab for breaking sterile field.
- Nurses expected to be competent in maintaining sterile field as it is a frequently performed nursing skill.
