The Drafter is responsible for the use of software to create digital drawings and draft designs of parts per the given specifications from the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Incumbents break down information obtained from customer specifications, sketches, layout drawings and instructions furnished by others. Will convert the information into detailed drawings with section views, dimensions, assemblies, and weldments.
- Supervision is limited; work is reviewed by peers or by more experienced staff as a quality procedure.
- Incumbents perform a variety of mathematical calculations using standard procedures.
- Incumbents have responsibility for coordinating with others to determine whether drawings can be executed efficiently and within expected tolerances, although at this level questions are less frequent due to knowledge and experience.
- Incumbents typically prepare bill of materials and specifications when drawings are complete.
- Incumbents prepare document packets for shop floor production.
- Uses Computer Assisted Drafting Design (CADD) equipment and software.
- Some time may be spent providing work direction, training, checking projects and providing technical help to less experienced staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Two years college or technical school degree plus 5 years of drafting experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in SolidWorks is required to perform this job successfully. An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Physical Demands:
The employee is regularly required to speak, hear, and sit for extended periods of time. Frequently the employees is required to use their hands and fingers to handle or feel, as well as, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally the employee is required to stand and walk, lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include near, far, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
