Job Description
Experience as a mechanical engineer as demonstrated by 3-6 years of progressive design and developmental projects with facility design experience.
Design experience should include the following:
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Master's Degree in Engineering is plus.
Must have an EIT License.
PE is a plus.
Must have understanding of codes and standards applicable to mechanical design including but not limited to; ASME, ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, and the IBC and IPC code set.
Must have fundamental knowledge of materials of construction in regard to material compatibility with various service conditions for equipment and piping.
Must be familiar with piping design including layout, pipe size determination, piping components, pressure ratings, expansion loops, valve selection, simple thermal stress and expansion problems. Working knowledge of ANSI/ASME B31 Piping Codes a plus.
Familiar with HVAC - in developing process flow diagrams, selection and layout of mechanical equipment and associated control systems for built-up AHUs, Chillers, VAV's, etc.
Must be familiar with plumbing system design including working knowledge of common plumbing codes.
Requires progressive experience in Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge of Federal requirements for life cycle cost analyses of energy consuming systems and building envelope alternatives
Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD and /or Microstation, Microsoft Office Suite and software used for specific technical applications within the department.
High level of verbal and written communication skills.

This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance. This position may require reviews and test for absence of any illegal drugs along with a background investigation by the Federal government in order to obtain an access authorization prior to employment, and may require subsequent reinvestigations may be required.
