POSITION SUMMARY

The Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for providing skills training and development for all areas of Manufacturing. This position will play a critical part in developing and delivering internal training to our Manufacturing staff. Manufacturing includes Production, Engineering, Facilities, Sanitation, and Maintenance. This role will partner with key leaders and subject matter experts to develop standards and work instructions in relations to operations and compliance.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in all Manufacturing areas.

Located in Henderson, Nevada, near the exciting and diverse community of Las Vegas, ProCaps Laboratories is a large and rapidly growing manufacturer with approximately 350 employees that markets several hundred dietary supplement SKUs, along with an expanding line of functional foods (bars, packets, bottles, etc.)

WHAT YOU BRING (MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS)

  • Associates Degree in Organizational/Industrial Development or related field preferred. High School or GED required.
  • 3 years of working and training experience in Manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience in a cGMP organization highly preferred.
  • Trainer Certification from Association for Talent Development (ATD) preferred but not required.
  • Must be an excellent developer/presenter to all levels, operators/technical staff to senior management, with an ability to train on complex systems, equipment and operating procedures into a clear and simple training system.
  • Experience in technical writing and/or work instructions required.
  • Able to flex work hours to accommodate training between the hours of 6am-10pm
  • Ideally past experience creating ‘One Point Lessons’ or ‘Standard Work’ for operating tasks, as this skill is conducive to creating effective communication of SOP’s and work instructions
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be safety minded.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate practices, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to convert practices and tribal knowledge into standardized training through workshops, on the job training material, and computer based training.
  • Ability to develop competency assessments.
  • Ability to effectively track training and provide a cadence of refresher training
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Positive and pleasant demeanor that can teach and train the spectrum of manufacturing employees, at various skills and experiences
  • Familiar and/or experienced in various training methods such as coaching, instructor led training, interactive training, on the job training, computer based training, and video based training

WHAT YOU’LL DO (OTHER ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Responsible for developing the knowledge and skills of our production workforce
  • Develops and delivers training material for workshops, on the job training, work instructions, and competency assessments.
  • General assessment of training needs by production area.
  • Develops training plan and strategy.
  • Become familiar with all SOPs and operations for Production roles.
  • Coordinates with area leadership on training schedule.
  • Validates new and seasoned operator hands-on understanding and performance.
  • Provide a cadence of refresher training.
  • Provide and measure quality and efficiency of training methods and material.
  • Conduct evaluations to identify areas of improvement needed.
  • Monitors employee’s performance and response to training provided.
  • Improve problem solving and critical thinking employee skills.
  • Support and mentor new employees.
  • Provide onboarding training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Duties are performed primarily in a smoke-free office environment
  • Some areas of operation are in an area with moderate to high noise levels

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • May occasionally require walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reach
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs. at time
