Occupational Therapist (School Setting)

The main goal of an occupational therapist is to treat injured, disabled, or ill patients that have difficulties performing everyday activities. Through the use of therapeutic activities, OTs can help these patients improve and recover the skills they need to continue through daily life with ease. It is often thought that occupational therapists are only in hospitals or healthcare facilities, but occupational therapy in schools is just as important.
To qualify for this role, prospective candidates must

• Have their Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Have active licensure in applicable state
• Have 2 years of experience (preferred)
Have experience in pediatrics or schools

In this role, prospective candidates should be able to:

• Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students in accordance with their individual educational plans
• Conduct occupational therapy evaluations for the purpose of determining eligibility for occupational therapy services
• Collaborate with special and regular educators in the development, implementation, and coordination of services
• Complete special education documentation in accordance with Department expectations, as well as state and federal laws and regulations
Attend and contribute to IEP meetings
