GENERAL SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice-President of Pharmacy Shared Services, the Director of Enterprise Pharmacy Business Services collaborates closely with leaders across Henry Ford Health, including hospitals, ambulatory operations, Finance, IT, and Supply Chain Management fostering close working relationships with all associated departments.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Direct a team that includes pharmacy managers, supervisors, sourcing specialists, revenue integrity specialists, buyers, IT analysts, database analysts, technicians, and support staff.
    • Directs, communicates, and educates co-workers and end-users in system initiatives, business practices, contractual agreements, and standardization processes.
    • Oversees the placement of staff across Shared Services within the Pharmacy Business Services area to ensure team is meeting the needs of all aspects of the pharmacy’s portfolio of business services.
  • Strategic Relationships:
    • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external customers to align activities with organizational needs.
    • Collaborates with the Henry Ford Health Medication Management team to ensure formulary compliance and cost-effective & optimal medication management within the system.
  • Product Standardization:
    • Lead health system-wide pharmacy product standardization initiatives.
    • Manages procurement of pharmaceuticals and related supplies for the organization and ensuring compliance with procurement standards, procedures, policies, and agreements. 
  • Compliance and Contract Management:
    • Ensure regulatory and safety compliance, manage pharmaceutical agreements, and meet the specialized needs of end-users.
  • Customer Satisfaction:
    • Foster strong working relationships with internal and external customers to ensure satisfaction and outstanding vendor performance.
    • Meets with pharmaceutical vendors, distributors and providers and ensure all pricing is accurately reflected and loaded for the system across all Henry Ford Health vendor accounts.
  • Financial Stewardship:
    • Enhance value through 340B strategy, revenue optimization, and supply expense reduction.
    • Directs the pharmaceutical contract portfolio to ensure best pricing opportunities whenever available through approval channels and vendors.
    • Collaborates with all business unit leaders on providing financial reports such as purchasing, drug expense, pricing, distribution, as well as drill downs for all impacted pharmaceutical GL codes and expenses.
    • Serves as the administrator of the health system pharmacy purchasing software application and ensures integrity and oversight of such system

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Management, Health Administration, Accounting, or related field, or the equivalent in work experience, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience involving medication procurement, pharmacy sourcing and medication inventory management in a health care setting required.
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Health Administration, or related field highly preferred.
  • Pharmacy technician experience required.
  • Previous management experience in similar area(s) required.
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of 340b is required, demonstrated through practice experience of at least five (5) years with 340b rules, regulations, and operations.
  • Strong computer skills and expert working knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Established experience with professional data analyses using Microsoft Excel required.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of Henry Ford Health business practices and a competency in a specialized area of procurement.
  • Must possess the personality and ability to work with a wide variety of people under sometimes stressful situations.
  • Must be motivated to provide high quality patient care.
