Sr Corporate/Trading Accountant -Commodities
Houston, Texas (in-Office role) Company Overview:Job Description:
- Prepare financial statements for internal and external users.
- Collect and analyze financial data ensuring compliance with reporting guidelines.
- Perform general accounting activities including ledger maintenance, reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
- Record, analyze, and report accounting transactions with integrity and accuracy.
- Provide financial support through forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Prepare statutory accounts, financial statements, and reports.
- Research accounting rules and regulations; make recommendations on company policy.
- May lead or direct others' work; coach team members as needed.
- Conduct and document accounting projects; handle special projects as assigned.
- Ensure all activities comply with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Manage areas such as PIP administration, leases, fixed assets, cash concentration, rebate accounting, and general ledger management.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting preferred.
- Minimum four years’ experience in accounting or related area required.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills; familiarity with Lawson or GL accounting software preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP, ERISA, and tax laws preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, conflict management, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance team members.
- Ability to exercise judgment, make decisions, and influence company policies affecting financial performance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
