Professional Employment Group of Colorado is Hiring a Construction Safety Manager Near Commerce, CO

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Safety Manager to join our team. The Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure work environment. This position is crucial in maintaining compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

Pre-Construction Requirements:

  • Site-Specific Safety Plan: Must be reviewed and accepted.
  • Safety Representative Approval: Must be reviewed and accepted.
  • Insurance Enrollment: All employers must be enrolled in the relevant insurance plan.
  • SIDA Badge and Drug Testing: Employees must obtain a SIDA badge and have a negative drug test result on file before employment.
  • Safety Orientation: Complete site safety orientation training for all workers, with acknowledgments on file.
  • Hard Hat Identification: Project sticker and employees’ names must be displayed on hard hats.
  • Task-Specific Safety Plans: Review applicable task-specific safety plans and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) with all employees.

Safety Representative Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring: Oversee the safety of employees and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to safe work practices. Must be on-site for the entire duration of work activities.
  • Qualifications:
  • Certifications: Must hold a Board of Certified Safety Professionals CSP, ASP, GSP, SMS, CHST, or OHST certification with relevant experience (4 to 8 years depending on certification).
  • Training: Must have completed OSHA 500 within the last 24 months, and hold current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification. Must have completed FMCSA-compliant drug and alcohol supervisory training.

Duties:

  • Site Safety Management: Manage safety programs and oversee subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Safety Training: Conduct safety orientation, weekly toolbox meetings, monthly supervisor safety meetings, and emergency action plan training. Provide regulatory and special procedure training as required.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain OSHA, state, federal, and project-specific documents. Complete incident investigations and daily inspection reports. Keep drug test results and respond to audits promptly.
  • Safety Enforcement: Authority to take corrective action and stop work if necessary. Ensure the implementation and enforcement of safety policies and procedures.
  • First Aid and Medical Treatment: Ensure adequate first aid supplies, lead incident investigations, coordinate injury treatment, and facilitate modified duty for injured workers.
  • Communication and Reporting: Keep the Safety Team and Project Manager informed of safety issues. Review safety submittals, conduct daily safety inspections, respond to safety issues, compile safety statistics, and participate in meetings.

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain proactive and professional collaboration with the project team.
  • Ensure all safety submittals meet contract requirements and come directly from the General Contractor.
  • Participate in weekly construction meetings and quarterly safety meetings.
