Job Summary:

Progressive Metal Manufacturing specializes in the JIT delivery of high mix low volume metal fabrications for the Over the Road Truck, Military, Alternative Energy Vehicle, and Agricultural markets. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our talented team and play a pivotal role in guiding the company’s implementation of automation, new technologies, and Industry 4.0. The ideal candidate will oversee the design and development of mechanical systems, manage projects, and ensure the successful execution of engineering initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Culture:

• Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing support, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
• Set clear expectations, delegate tasks effectively, and conduct performance reviews regularly.

Technical Expertise:

• Manage all aspects of the engineering life cycle, from design and prototype development to final production and quality control.
• Proficient in metal fabrication processes, including cutting, welding, forming, machining, and finishing.
• Implementation of automation projects.
• Evaluation of capital equipment and related cost justifications.
• Experience with design software and manufacturing practices used in the metal fabrication industry (e.g., CAD, CAM, CNC).
• Continuously seek out new technologies and methods to improve efficiency and quality.
• Working knowledge of GD&T.

Project Management:

• Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Identify potential risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
• Communicate effectively with clients, designers, and production teams to ensure project alignment.

Quality & Cost Control:

• Implement and maintain robust quality control procedures to guarantee parts meet specifications.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and optimize production costs.
• Analyze production data and identify opportunities for process optimization.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Regularly communicate progress and challenges to leadership and relevant stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external partners (e.g., suppliers, designers).
• Proactively contribute to cross-functional team efforts.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a metal fabrication environment, ideally in a low-volume setting.
• Proven leadership experience with a track record of motivating and developing teams.
• Strong technical knowledge of metal fabrication processes, materials, and equipment.
• Excellent project management skills and experience with project management methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $135,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
