Associate Director, Monthly Giving, Development and Communications

Location: Washington, DC - hybrid preferred; Remote - US considered in AL, AK, CA, CO, DE, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, MI, MO, MT, NV, NJ, NC, ND, OR, SD, TX, UT, VA, WA

POSITION SUMMARY: The Associate Director, Monthly Giving is a seasoned fundraiser withexperience in acquisition and retention of monthly donors and is able to build programsthat increase lifetime revenue from donors and return on investment (ROI) for ProjectHOPE.
He/she/they should be a detail-oriented self-starter who can workcross-functionally in a matrixed environment on the strategy and implementationof the HOPE Partners monthly giving program. This includes creating the overallstrategic plan, optimizing the sustainer donor journey and lifecycle, building,monitoring, and reporting on budgets, managing investments, and establishingKPI's for vendor management and accountability. This role partners closely withonline and offline channel managers on monthly giving strategies.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the monthly giving program and develop the multi-year strategic plan to acquire, retain, recapture, reactivate and upgrade monthly donors.
  • Work cross-functionally with online and offline channel managers to implement donor journeys, monthly donor stewardship, and increase revenue by ensuring an exceptional donor experience.
  • Oversee and pro-actively bring to life the holistic HOPE Partners brand strategy, including the messaging and visual identity across channels.
  • Develop annual and multi-year budgets for monthly donors with clear KPI's. Continually monitor results against budget, track monthly revenue, acquisition, and retention trends, provide regular performance reports to key stakeholders, and reforecast when necessary.
  • Manage agency canvassing and telemarketing partners to establish KPI's, monitor investments, test and onboard, and hold partners accountable. This includes reviewing scripts and materials, providing swag and other tools for campaigns, and making real-time adjustments to improve performance.
  • Manage agency contracts for canvassing and sustainer telemarketing, with a focus on maximizing ROI, including negotiating clawbacks and metrics for costs per donor acquired.
  • Work with internal teams and external agencies to optimize digital strategies to acquire, convert, retain, upgrade, recapture, and reactivate monthly donors across email, website, paid advertising and SMS. Advise on the digital experience for sustainers, including the online portal, website messaging, donation page tactics, and other approaches.
  • Analyze investment opportunities and make strategic recommendations in all areas of monthly giving, keeping abreast of industry trends and new monthly giving channels.
  • Ensure back-end systems and processes run at the highest efficiency and meet best practice standards. Review, refine and recommend new systems or processes as needed.
  • Ensure test and learn plans are continually implemented, refined, and acted upon.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 10 years of experience in a fast-paced, multi-faceted marketing or fundraising environment, preferably in international organizations.
  • Deep experience growing sustainer files through canvassing and digital fundraising. Including managing agencies to performance and onboarding/offboarding agencies as needed.
  • Experience with monthly donor journeys and knowledge of retention methods.
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff and agencies and insuring KPI's are met.
  • Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions based on trends.
  • A high attention to detail and organization.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, work independently in partnership with teams, manage time effectively, and follow through on tasks/responsibilities.
  • Experience and expertise with professional communications/interactions; Ability to build relationships remotely.
  • Proven success in management of competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral, as well as proofreading.

  • While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it intermittently.
  • Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as "hardship."

Salary range starting at $100,000 USD per year based on candidates residing in the US. Compensation for the role is dependent on several factors including a candidate's location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
