Job Description:
CLS – Blood Bank: Extensive experience in blood banking.
Location: Buffalo General – we provide services to BGMC, GVI and OCH from one blood bank within BGMC.
Experience/Proficient in:
– Theory and practice of blood banking
– Ortho Vison analyzer
– Manual type and screens
– Crossmatch/compatibility testing
– DAT
– Antibody identification
– Blood product selection and dispensing
– Fetal–maternal testing such as fetal screen, KB stain
– Transfusion reaction work up
– Inventory management of blood and blood products
– Record keeping
Additional Info: We are a full service blood bank supporting a busy cardiac surgery service, high risk L&D and a Level 1 pediatric trauma center.
Average cases per month: 2500 type and screens, 2100 crossmatches, and transfuse about 900 prbcs, 530 platelets, and 150 FFP. The bulk of that testing is on days and evenings, with nights doing any emergent testing, surgery set up, routine testing from in–house, and routine outpatients that came in through the courier earlier in the day.
Shift: 5x8s, 11p–7a, 37.5hrs per week; every other weekend/every other holiday.
Floating: will not float out of Blood Bank

Prolink Job ID . Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 37 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax–free stipend amount to be determined.
