OUR TEAM: Our Materials Management team is comprised of 20 individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Our collaborative team is responsible for planning production at our Madison, WI facilities as well as the planning for global distribution of our products to our nine distribution branches around the world.

YOUR ROLE: You will be part of our Production Planning and Purchasing teams in charge of making a difference! You will be working cross functionally to develop a production plan based on inputs such as a product forecasts, needs from our branches, work center capacity and supply of our resources to name a few, all while working to reduce product costs. You will collaborate with a diverse group of individuals across our Supply Chain and cross company areas on continuous improvements initiatives and projects that can have an impact globally.

JOB OBJECTIVE: Responsible for the procurement and scheduling for materials and/or services required to support Promegas business. Assist in selecting sources that meet Promegas quality, regulatory and requester requirements at an optimal total cost of ownership while developing strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Manage inventory levels of finished goods and raw materials to meet customer demands while maintaining low on hand material costs.
CORE DUTIES:
1. Execute supplier selection activities, including RFx development and administration, supplier qualification, and specification development.

2. Support supplier performance management activities, including score carding, audit support, nonconformance, and corrective action resolution.

3. Develop and maintain acceptable suppliers for materials and services. Establish relationships with key personnel at suppliers; understand their processes and internal systems. Establish Promegas position with these suppliers so that Promega enjoys a preferred position if supply problems arise.

4. Develop understanding of Promegas business processes to ensure that suppliers qualifications and Promegas requirements are in alignment, including Quality System requirements (regulatory, ISO, QSR/cGMP)

5. Manage Master Production Schedule to maintain an optimal inventory to support customer demand globally. Open production orders as needed for the Master Production Schedule.

6. Responsible for determining the quantity and due date for assigned materials needed to meet the Master Production Schedule.

7. Manage planning parameters to ensure accuracy and that they provide the optimal balance of inventory value, customer service and unit cost.

8. Execute cycle count and physical inventory activities to ensure that materials are accurately accounted for.

9. Work with other areas of Promega, including, but not limited to Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Finance and Accounting, Receiving and Shipping to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all supplier and material data.

10. Understand and assist in the development of necessary systems to track, control and report on purchasing and planning transactions.

11. Travel as required to audit and/or evaluate capabilities and capacities of current and proposed suppliers; review and resolve supplier performance issues; promote improved relationships with supplier management and encourage closer business relationships with critical suppliers.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years related experience in purchasing and planning.

2. Possess a thorough knowledge of purchasing and planning principles and techniques. Have the technical competence to enable an understanding of the material and product specifications, the supplier's quality and process parameters, and how these relate to the supply source, Promega products, and bottom line. Understand the financial aspects of the business and the impact of any price or inventory change as well as yield losses.

3. Ability to travel as required.

4. Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft software (particularly Excel).

5. Must be able to work in a team approach, remain flexible under continually changing priorities, be a self-starter, and have excellent interpersonal skills.

6. ERP system experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Previous purchasing and planning experience in similar material and product areas.

2. CPIM /APICS Certification or equivalent.

3. Attention to detail and be effective with work assignments.

4. Experience in Microsoft Office, SAP, or other MRP/EP systems.

5. Experience in API planning and sourcing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to use telephone and computer equipment with the ability to remain stationary for several hours at a time.
2. Ability to travel as required to meet requirements of the job.
3. Able to work extended hours as necessary.
