The Promontory Golf Maintenance Team is looking to fill a vacancy for an Irrigation Technician.

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for use, repair, and maintenance of all irrigation equipment and infrastructure on the golf course. Irrigation Technicians, under the supervision of the superintendent and assistant superintendent, are to perform routine, semi-skilled, and skilled manual labor tasks involved in golf course maintenance. Irrigation Technicians are expected to serve as team leads and supervisors and perform work involving proper repair of existing pipe and wire network; proper scheduling of irrigation applications; installation of system upgrades; and supplemental irrigation applications.

Each Irrigation Technician may be assigned responsibilities for the maintenance of the golf course and management of the team and completes related work in a safe and time sensitive manner with regard to maximizing efficiency and quality. You have specific responsibilities within these areas and are expected to understand them Job Specifications:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintenance and repair of irrigation system.
• Monitors and regulates all irrigation channels, ditches, pond levels, and culverts where irrigation infrastructure crosses roads and pathways to ensure proper flows at all times.
• Assists in irrigation scheduling and application to maintain firm and fast playing conditions in addition to turf health.
• Routinely inspects irrigation system components to ensure proper rotor and satellite controller performance.
• Maintains irrigation parts inventory, work record, and record pump station statistics on a daily basis.
• Applies supplemental irrigation by means of existing heads or hoses to any areas on golf course requiring additional care.
• Operates and programs our central computer system as required.
• Assists year-round managers in management and training of seasonal staff and fills in as admin for department when needed.
• Leads irrigation projects under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
• Maintains all golf course grounds with great attention to detail and assists in work inspections.
• Operates equipment used in the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, surrounds, sand bunkers, native areas, waterways, and common areas.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent.
• Checks system for proper operation and timing.
• Performs seasonal maintenance such as system charging and draining.
• May participate in the design or modification of new or existing systems.
• Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries and unsafe work practices to management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CERTIFICATIONS: Vocational training or comparable work experience in irrigation system operation and maintenance. High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required; must be at least 21 years of age and be able to pass a pre – employment background and motor vehicle driving check; must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record to be added to Promontory’s vehicle insurance.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Must have2 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience maintaining golf course irrigation systems; knowledge of Toro irrigation systems, Flotronics pumping systems, Toro 700 series, and WeatherTrack preferred; must have knowledge of VFD (Variable Frequency Drives); Backflow certification highly preferred.

WORKING KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED ON JOB: Abide by Promontory policies and procedures and submit ideas for possible revision; work independently with little supervision; courteous and helpful with Promontory Club Members and employees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift a maximum of 100lbs; must be willing to work various hours, holidays and weekends.

Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Wages range from $25/hr - $29/hr and will be commensurate based on experience.
