Job Summary:

Proof Bread, a renowned artisanal bakery specializing in sourdough bread, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Logistics Manager to play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and safe delivery of our bakery products to various locations. The Logistics Manager is responsible for developing new measures for performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, leading cost savings initiatives as well as coordinating daily operations to ensure drivers maintain the integrity of Proof products during transportation and delivery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for our products, seek understanding of our current processes and procedures, is self-driven, punctual, reliable, and able to work independently. This position reports to the Operations Director.

Key Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

Driver Operations

• Operate and understand the unique requirements of each fleet vehicle
• Establish protocol for routine vehicle inspection, monitor performance, and handle any maintenance issues
• Safely and efficiently load, secure, drive, and unload various bakery supplies, tools, and products in accordance with temperature controls
• Ensure that all products requiring nightly proofing are properly and accurately set
• Provide exceptional customer service with production staff during deliveries
• Maintain accurate delivery logs, including delivery times, mileage, and any issues encountered during deliveries

Driver and Vehicle Management

• Understand bakery operations and impact of logistics on business success
• Complete Driver interviews, hiring, termination, evaluation, development, and scheduling
• Build market stacks and manage supplies, valuables, and technology
• Use and build useful driver resources to ensure transfer accuracy and train staff accordingly
• Maintain vehicle emissions, maintenance records, and registration requirements
• Lead strategic planning, opportunity assessment, and implementation of new capabilities for a rapidly evolving logistics network

Compliance and Safety

• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with food safety and handling guidelines
• Perform audits and ride-alongs to ensure driver compliance
• Address management and team inquiries and concerns professionally

Qualifications:

• Must produce a valid ID, be insurable, and have a clean driving record
• Must produce a valid food handling certification
• 5 years of driving or relevant experience required
• 2 years direct leadership or supervisory experience is a plus
• Attention to detail and a commitment to safety
• Flexible availability to work mornings, evenings and/or weekends
• Availability to stay on-call or on the job until all tasks are completed
• Ability to work independently and bring solutions-oriented mindset
• Strong sense of responsibility, organization, and dependability
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with success in working across organizations at all levels
• Must be responsible and have proven ability to maintain scheduling commitments

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 100lbs occasionally
• Ability to maneuver and move large shelves of product on wheels weighing approximately 400lbs
• Ability to safely operate liftgate and various fleet vehicles
• Good vision and hearing for navigating traffic and communicating with customers

Key Performance Indicators:

• Product Delivery Success of daily delivery (all items where they need to be); management and understanding of time sensitive deadlines and proactive problem-solving for issues that may delay timely completion of drop offs; ability to drive and deliver temperature sensitive, fragile objects through a variety of driving conditions utilizing a liftgate and/or ramp; completion of delivery logs and load manifests; daily shift communication using appropriate channels
• Maintenance, Compliance and Safety Completion of maintenance logs; timely reporting of issues; proactive vehicle checks; number of safety incidents reported

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $21.00 - $27.00/hour.
