About The Role

Prosperity Life, a multi-line, hedge fund owned insurance group is currently recruiting for an Actuarial Analyst to support the Experience Study function. The position could be located in Roanoke, Virginia, New York, New York, or be fully remote.

Job Duties Include:

  • Develops proficiency with corporate software, especially SQL, R, & Excel.
  • Maintain & create reports to monitor company life & annuity experience.
  • Performs technical calculations in support of actuarial work/research.
  • Demonstrates independence in compilation of data for analysis, maintenance of required databases and in preparation of required management reports.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of insurance products and terminology.
  • Develops ad hoc actuarial reports/tools as needed.
  • Assists in testing, as necessary, of new products or upgrades to corporate software.
  • Assist in performing annual experience analysis, working with partners on valuation and projection teams, pricing, and risk management to develop proposals
  • Assist in preparing documentation of assumption controls for internal and external auditors
  • Assist in developing new reporting / analysis tools as necessary

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in a role requiring actuarial analysis or 2 actuarial exams passed.
  • Must be working towards and making satisfactory progress toward ASA or FSA designation, completing required training and examinations, and achieving required certifications.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent education and experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of valuation/projection software, including ArcVal, MG-ALFA, and Prophet.
  • Familiar with insurance products and basic product features.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well with others.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Enjoys working hard, looks for challenges, and seeks opportunities for improvement
