A Day in the Life:
As a Benefits Customer Service Agent (CSA) for ProValue Insurance, you will be responsible for providing customer service to all employer groups seeking benefit resources or groups that are established customers with group benefits. This position will come under the Benefits Department and answer to the Vice President of Group Benefits.
Responsibilities will include managing the benefits platform (currently PlanSource), providing support to group leaders regarding the platform, billing, claims or any service needs. It will be the responsibility of this position to build and maintain all customer groups on the platform and to make sure group leaders are educated on their responsibilities in the system. Maintenance of the benefits platform includes visual appeal, accuracy of plans and rates, keeping all documents in the system up to date for each group, rolling over all groups each plan year and assisting in the open enrollment process as needed. As new developments occur, it will be the responsibility of the Benefits Customer Service Agent (CSA) to communicate with the Vice President of Group Benefits regarding changes that may need to take place regarding the platform. The focus should be on having a platform that functions accurately and efficiently in providing the needed services for our benefit groups.
The Benefits Customer Service Agent will be responsible for setting up documents in Indio as needed to provide customers with access to sign required applications, contracts, and/or agreements. This position will also assist with making sure the employer completes and signs the needed documents.
This role may at times need to work with the ProValue accounting team regarding any billing issues or past-due statements. All direct billing in the Applied/EPIC system will be the responsibility of the Benefits Customer Service Agent (CSA). This position will be a backup to the Benefits & Medicare Agent during high-volume seasons for Medicare plans. This will be assessed by Vice President of Group Benefits and communicated, and a plan put in place when extra help is needed.
Education and training for our customer benefit groups will be an ongoing need that the Benefits Coordinator and the Benefits Customer Service Agent (CSA) will work together to develop to ensure all groups have the education and service they need. Each year the Benefits Coordinator and the Benefits CSA will be responsible for planning educational in-person meetings that are applicable to our customers. The finalized plan will be presented and approved by the VP of Group Benefits.
Due to the servicing needs of our benefit groups, it will be crucial for this role to understand every product or policy that is sold so that they can answer questions and/or be involved with the appropriate insurance carrier to resolve any issues or concerns. This will require continued education in every area of group benefits, individual policies, and Medicare.

This position will be trained on individual life, Medicare, and Occupational Accident so that back-up support to the Benefits and Medicare Agent can be provided when needed. This position will also sell and service individual life policies from the Hutchinson office as needed by local customers. To create business continuity in the Benefits Department, the Benefits Coordinator will be trained in all responsibilities of the Benefits Customer Service Agent (CSA) position including day-to-day functions of the benefits platform, PlanSource.
The Benefits Customer Service Agent (CSA) is expected to work as a team within the organization by collaborating with operation personnel (Benefits Coordinator, Benefits and Medicare Agent, CSA, insurance carriers, etc.) behind the scenes to ensure a smooth customer service experience.
This position will not usually require night travel, although throughout the year day travel may be required to attend Benefit Department Team meetings or to go out and do customer visits.
Since this position will function as customer service for the benefits department professional appearance, the ability to follow through in a timely manner, a high level of self-motivation, reliability, and accuracy are required qualifications.
You will also collaborate with other professionals within ProValue Insurance and our affiliated companies to cross-sell their services and prove to clients that we are a full-service insurance agency.
