Providence Schools is Hiring a Summer - Pre-K Evaluation Team Special Education Teacher Near Admin Special Education Pre K, RI
Location: Special Education Pre-K in Central Office AdministrationPre-K Evaluation Team Special Education Teacher (up to 6 positions)Program Dates: July 1, 2024 - August 23, 2024 [Note: No work July 4th - Holiday]Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:00 am - 2:30 pm (½ hour lunch and ½ hour unassigned period)Under direction of the Pre-K Special Education Manager and Executive of Special Education, the special educator will instruct pre-k students currently enrolled in who require reinforcement in language and social skills students’ Individual Educational Program (IEP). Contingent upon enrollment and funding [contractual rate of pay]RIDE Requirements ECH Sp. Ed. PK-2 and ECH PK-2 ESL Preferred
Knowledge of RI Regulations Governing Students with Disabilities
Strong oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of Implementation and analysis of District assessment tools
Knowledge of special education evaluation procedures, IEP and report writing, Powerschool
Demonstrated ability to use and understand sign language
Extensive coursework and/or experience in the education of the mild/moderately disabled population including development of Individual Educational Program (IEPs) for students
Experience working with families of mild/moderately disabled students specifically with implementing community-based programs that carry over to classroom activities
Knowledge of current research and teaching strategies for the mild/moderately disabled
Knowledge and experience with students who require alternative language systems (e.g. sign, total communication, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to use and teach signing within the instructional program
Experience and/or ability in establishing and implementing a language-based curriculum using functional activities
Knowledge of activities and classroom structure that enhances the development of communication systems
Knowledge of techniques that address the development of positive social behavior
Ability to collaborate and work as a team with service providers within the classroom setting
Successful experience working effectively with special education students and their families according to IEP requirements
Serve as a member of the Team of Qualified Professionals
Completes all aspects of self-help and social skill development when needed
Completes documentation of progress as it relates to IEP goals and objectives
Completes summary report to include progress and continued need for skill development
Completes any/all duties assigned by the Office of Specialized Instruction and Services Administrators
