Job DescriptionPosition PurposeParticipates as a business partner with Regional Directors, Area Directors, and General Managers. Aims to support and grow capability in the field.
DimensionsThe Human Resources Manager provides front-line HR support to the Area Directors and Restaurant Teams. This position has indirect responsibility, including approximately 189 salaried and 3,500 non-exempt employees. This position includes 50% travel to restaurant locations.

Primary AccountabilitiesIn addition to following Elite’ policies and procedures, principal accountabilities are, but are not limited to:
Building People Capability:
  • Directs and participates in employee relations functions such as dispute resolutions, discipline, communications, etc., ensuring positive morale in restaurants. This includes effectively managing telephone calls, emails, complaints, and questions as needed.
  • Advises Regional Directors, Area Directors and General Managers and makes recommendations with consideration given to legal requirements, policy adherence and prior company consistency.
  • Coach and develop Area Directors and Management teams on human resource/legal issues.
  • Acts as employee advocate.
  • Handles on-boarding for new Area Directors, if appropriate. Supports the transition of internally promoted General Managers and Area Directors.
  • Conducts focus groups, culture surveys and quality circles to be initiative-taking while resolving issues. Has a consistent read on the attitudes and climates of each of the restaurants in their region.
  • Partners with HR Director to change or revise policies in need of implementation to support Elite business needs.
  • Support Coaching Culture through regular field visits with Area Directors and Management teams.
  • Supports the team with Payroll and Benefits processes to include managing vacations.
  • Coaches, maintains, and champions the Manpower planning and internal promotion processes.
  • Measures and manages retention, stability, and turnover objectives. Ensures that turnover goals are effectively communicated and that annual turnover reduction targets are achieved.
Compliance:
  • Supports compliance with legislative requirements, including reporting and posting.
  • Ensures compliance of pay programs with legislated requirements, such as wage and hour law, equal pay legislation, etc. Support design and implementation of pay and performance programs.
  • Present training modules including Handbook, I-9/E-Verify, hiring, interviewing, recruiting techniques, etc. as required by the company.
  • Partner with Field Training Manager and Operations to ensure compliance with Safety policy and procedure.
Relationship Management:
  • Relational team building skills with HR & Training team.
  • Provides value and business insight to discussions with Elite’ management teams.
  • Builds solid working relationships across the company and at all levels within the organization. Function as a coach and business partner to field operators.
Position Specifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or human resources, or equivalent work experience strongly preferred.
  • Three to five years experience as a generalist, including management or firsthand experience in all the following areas; recruiting/staffing, employee relations, employment law, company culture development, training, compensation, and benefits.
  • Restaurant industry experience preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP certification strongly preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state labor regulations, benefits, wage, and hour laws, and EEO regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Proven leadership skills with an ability to function with a multi-cultural organization.
  • Proficient PC experience with business and database applications (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
