Major Responsibilities and Duties :

  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
  • Ensures course coding is completed in PEIMS
  • Assist with instructional services designed to facilitate the transition from school to post-school employment and career opportunities.
  • Provides guidance, counseling, and career development activities associated with special services e.g. modifications of curriculum or equipment.
  • Utilizes the district / campus career testing program for placement of special needs students in the most integrated setting.
  • Uses other appraisal results or guidelines to identify special needs students.
  • Assessment of special population students with career interested and aptitude test.
  • Monitoring to ensure that special needs populations students have access in the most integrated setting possible.
  • Development and dissemination to potential CTE students and their parents one year before placement in a CTE programs.
  • Assist in fulfilling the transitional service requirements to the Educations of the Handicapped Act.
  • Uses data from committees to plan modifications or support equipment or individual educational plans for special needs students.
  • Monitor classroom instruction to ensure that special needs students are developing appropriate career and academic skills.
  • Plans and implements the special population program for grades 8-12.
  • Establishing a CTE support system.
  • Providing equal access in recruitment enrollment and placement activities for students who are members of special populations.
  • Provide supplementary services to special populations, including individuals with handicaps.
  • Articulate the planning and placement of supplement services on all secondary campuses.
  • Ensures delivery of services with other service-provider agencies.
  • Utilizes knowledge of curriculum content and the curriculum development process to facilitate teacher’s development of appropriate experiences for special needs students in CTE programs.
  • Provides in services for teachers on the administering of career assessment tests.
  • Assists planning an annual budget to support special needs CTE support services and other related activities.
  • Assures that facilities are available and maintained for special populations students.
  • Guidance activities based on data obtained from career assessment to develop student self-worth.
  • Assists in the development of applications for admission to CTE programs.
  • Develops workshops for other professionals to increase their knowledge of special needs populations.
  • Attends and presents at professional associations and agencies workshops / conventions.
  • Develops research for publication.
  • Reads current research relating to special needs populations.
  • Follows the standards of ethics for professional educators.
  • Shares ideas and information with other CTE and academic professional personnel.
  • Develops a program evaluation.
  • Coordinates with CTE teachers, job placements, coordinators, academic teachers, librarians, diagnosticians, and administrators to place special needs students into the most integrated setting possible in CTE education programs.
  • Coordinates with business, community, post-secondary institutions and other agencies.
  • Acts on ARD committees to place handicap students in the appropriate CTE or transitional program.
  • Consults with students, parents, teachers, counselors, librarians, diagnosticians, campus administrators, CTE professionals, district support personnel, government agencies, and other relevant individuals to enhance the success of special needs students.
  • Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.
