PTE Systems International is Hiring a Hydraulic Mechanic / Technician Near Hialeah, FL

A rapidly growing specialty construction and manufacturing firm in the Miami, FL area is currently searching for an “all-in-one” mechanic to install, maintain and repair hydraulic components, equipment and other plant machinery as well as read dials and meters to determine amperage, voltage, electrical output and input at specific operating temperature to analyze parts performance.

Summary / Position Responsibilities

The hydraulic maintenance mechanic position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and performing preventative maintenance of the hydraulic and pneumatic systems of machinery and equipment.

  • Observe and listen to operating machinery to detect malfunctions.
  • Inspect hydraulic lines and components to detect leaks, damage and wear.
  • Read hydraulic and pneumatic equipment pressure gauges to detect abnormal oil pressure.
  • Replace worn or damaged hydraulic components and install new hydraulic components on new machinery and equipment.
  • Disassemble hydraulic system to remove and replace defective parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance.
  • Disassemble defective cylinders, valves, pumps and lines and rebuild, repair or replace components.
  • Maintain and inspect air compressor systems.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies needed for work performed.
  • Use of sand blaster, powder coating and other methods to refurbish outgoing equipment to acceptable standards
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area(s).
  • Assist other Maintenance Mechanics with emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment as well as installation of production machinery for a new line or process.
  • Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
  • Issue and maintain records, project documents and other departmental reports.
  • Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Experience with and training of Heavy Hydraulics a major plus
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Reasonable proficiency with computer (word, excel, etc). a big plus

Required education & Experience

  • High School diploma
  • Technical training and related certifications (preferred)
  • Associates degree in industrial equipment technologies, mechanics or precision systems service a plus
  • 2-3 years of related experience in production machines and hydraulic equipment

Travel

  • Mostly working in-house but local travel is expected and some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may occur to assist with installation and repair of equipment at other company locations and jobsites

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions in and around the manufacturing plant.

Physical Demands

  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
