Why Jackson: Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital (JBHH) is a three-story, 180,000-square-foot facility committed to the highest quality, treatment, and service. Opened in 1999, JBHH consolidates evaluation, clinical treatment, teaching and research, to offer a full continuum of care for children, adolescents, adults and elderly, including crisis stabilization, inpatient hospitalization, and outpatient programs. In association with the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry, JBHH offers specialized treatment for numerous conditions including depression and mood disorders, schizophrenia, suicidal ideation or behavior, anxiety and panic disorders, drug and alcohol abuse and Alzheimer's disease. JBHH also specializes in criminal justice mental health services.
Position Summary
The Mental Health Outpatient Specialist will perform clinical tasks as well as provide clerical support to Mental Health Outpatient services.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform basic office tasks, including managing the check-in and check-out process of all MH Outpatient Clinics, including but no limited to AOPC, Child, Day Treatment and Ph.B. able to complete orders, respond to the queue in Cerner EMR. Be able to take phone calls, compile client paperwork, organize and gather client folders for providers, and provide other clerical support, as needed. Demonstrate sensitivity with this client population, be able to respond to STAT codes and work with providers to de-escalate or escort clients to Crisis, during emergent situations. Be able to obtain vital signs and urine specimens when necessary. Able to transport clients to and from the outpatient setting as well as delivery of urine specimens to the lab may also be required. Provide support to and oversee Day Hospital Program workflow, as needed. Initiates contacts with Managed Care Organizations and obtains authorization for treatment. Be able to enter vouchers, and manage client scheduling. Demonstrates knowledge of the several State Outcome Measures programs in Mental Health Outpatient Clinics. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Education
High school diploma is required.
Experience
Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
License/Certification
Possession of a valid Florida driver's license and chauffeur's license for those positions requiring transport of patients. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
