Compensation: $90,000 to $97,000/ Annually

Job Overview

The Director, Early Learning Partnerships, is a Regular, Full-Time, Exempt position reporting to the Senior Director, Early Learning. The Director, Early Learning Partnerships initiates, stewards, and tracks key partnerships and stakeholders to advance PBS SoCal’s strategic commitment to providing Early Learning services in Southern California, statewide, and beyond. This position is responsible for increasing the awareness, reach, engagement, and impact of PBS SoCal’s Early Learning services through creative new distribution and partnerships with schools, districts, statewide and local agencies, PBS stations, and other organizations focused on serving early learners and the adults who support them. Representing PBS SoCal’s Early Learning efforts externally, this individual leads the execution of our partnership work in collaboration with PBS SoCal’s Early Learning, Digital Content, Production, and Marketing teams, as well as the executive office. The employee must regularly use independence and discretion in the execution of duties with limited supervision. 

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Increase engagement with PBS SoCal Early Learning content and resources with families and educators through informal and formal partnerships, with special attention paid to partnerships reaching underserved and Spanish-language populations
  • Identify, initiate, and develop strategies for new partnerships annually, providing significant and measurable reach and engagement opportunities; assess and maintain existing partnerships
  • Set, develop, and monitor goals for partnership initiatives; establish and track key performance indicators for partnership success in collaboration with the Early Learning Research & Evaluation Manager 
  • Act as primary liaison to California Public Media station representatives (CEOs, GMs, and education leads) in support of statewide partnership building and the scale of local resources for families and educators
  • Manage communication and collaboration for Early Learning resources and services with PBS and other member stations
  • Communicate internally and externally the exponential impact of partnerships to grow use and engagement with PBS SoCal’s Early Learning services
  • Design an Early Learning partner communications strategy and implement a partner communications plan
  • Work with local, statewide, and national partners to determine needs and deliver custom plans for the integration of PBS SoCal resources
  • Manage large-scale departmental and organization-wide partnership events 
  • Regularly communicate with program managers at state agencies, districts, or partner sites to understand challenges to the adoption and usage of our tools, emerging trends, and how we can improve the effectiveness of program implementation
  • Provide direction, support, and supervision to Early Learning Partnerships team members including: training, coaching and development, and performance management 
  • Lead the Early Learning Partnerships team and provide strategic guidance
  • Innovate in reaching stakeholders through new mediums, new distribution models, and creative partnerships
  • Explore and launch new ideas and methods around multi-platform access for families (texting, WhatsApp, or other platforms) to amplify the reach of PBS SoCal’s Early Learning content and resources in collaboration with Marketing, Early Learning, and Digital Content teams 
  • Identify and build business partnerships to extend the reach of PBS SoCal resources in consultation with the Senior Director, Early Learning, and the SVP, Education and Impact
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on the identification and exploration of partnerships and collaboration with key influencers that reach primarily Spanish-speaking families
  • Increase the ease and availability of resources through effective management and the expansion of resource distribution partnerships
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the legal team on partnership and distribution agreements
  • Present the mission, goals, and best practices of the PBS SoCal Early Learning efforts at key conferences, panels, thought-leadership events, and on social media 
  • Manage independent contractors and grant deliverables, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5 years' experience in non-profit, community, and/or government relations (A combination of education and experience will be considered)
  • A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required (Master’s degree preferred) 
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking (required)
  • Demonstrated success in partnership development, cultivating prospects, communicating regularly with existing partners, and identifying additional opportunities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to connect with people at all levels and backgrounds and build trustworthy relationships
  • Ability to quickly understand and apply new concepts, models, and technologies
  • Experience leading a team and supervising staff
  • Proactive, dynamic, and results-driven individual 
  • Creative; entrepreneurial; ability to explore, adapt, and bring new ideas to work
  • Experience managing projects, taking them from inception through completion
  • Ability to track results, analyze information, and communicate findings effectively using spreadsheets, presentation tools, etc.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, follow-through capabilities, and personal accountability for performance
  • Excellent oral and written communication as well as presentation skills in diverse environments
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and other organizations

Physical Demands 

While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

The working conditions are primarily in a home or office setting. However, the position will require off-site travel to partners and/or other such locations as necessary. Depending on the position, job duties, and subject to the discretion of the company, the position may be telecommuting eligible in whole or in part.
