PUC National is Hiring a Facilities Manager Near Burbank, CA

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

PUC National is a non-profit organization that serves to promote, support, benefit, replicate, and carry out the purposes and mission of Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools.

We have a contractual relationship with Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools to provide a variety of support services to the schools in NE Los Angeles and the NE San Fernando Valley. This includes, but is not limited to Finance, Human Resources, Operations, IT and Data Management, facilities identification and acquisition, fundraising, grant management, college access, alumni relations, charter development and renewal, and compliance.


THE TEAM MEMBER WE ARE SEARCHING FOR

The ideal Facilities Manager believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC National and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, and collaboration to ensure schools’ success across the organization.

Under the supervision of Director of Facilities, the Facilities Manager plans, organizes, directs, and administers the maintenance functions of all PUC Schools. The Facilities Manager ensures efficient and cost- effective departmental operations, supervises, trains, directs the work, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel. The Facilities Manager is responsible for long range planning operations, emergency services, hazardous material management, and all aspects of public works projects. The Facilities Manager assists the Director of Facilities in facility master planning, analysis, research, and construction.


What you’ll need to accomplish:

  • Assist with the maintenance, custodial services, grounds keeping, and warehousing of all PUC Schools
  • Supervise special projects related to buildings, and grounds as assigned by the Director of Facilities
  • Support with the development, maintenance, and training of personnel on Emergency Response Plans for PUC Schools and PUC National
  • Support with the development, maintenance, and training of personnel on School Safety Plans
  • Support and monitor the implementation of traffic management plans for school sites
  • Create reports on service levels and the status of pending projects
  • Work collaboratively with the PUC National staff, PUC Schools CEO, and school staff
  • Support with the inspection of buildings and grounds and confer with site administrators on needed maintenance, repairs, and modernization activities
  • Interpret plans for and meet with contractors and subcontractors; maintain records and prepare reports
  • Support with the development and maintenance of high standards for all departmental services and support with monitoring to ensure accountability
  • Check and inspect work done by contractors to ensure compliance with PUC expectations and state standards, specifications and with building codes
  • Support with the preparation, submission, and monitoring of budgets for maintenance
  • Ensure safety standards are followed and actively seek innovative, proactive solutions for preventing accidents to reduce injuries and claims
  • Support with filings and permit clearance with the offices of Department of Building and Safety in the City of L.A. (LADBS), Division of the State Architect, and all other governmental agencies related to school construction; general obligation bond; Department of Industrial Relations
  • Support with the home office repair needs
  • Support with maintaining inventory of supplies and storage
  • Review plans and specifications for maintenance work, construction, and modernization projects
  • Assist with Requests for Proposals (RFP) and vendor selection process in accordance with PUC's policies and procedures
  • Support with reviewing and coordinating work orders, schedules, and material ordering for the department
  • Visit school grounds and interface with school personnel as needed
  • Maintain necessary records and files
  • Maintain accurate Financial Records & Credit Card Logs
  • Support with security systems for all schools including alarms
  • Requisition materials
  • Be available in case of emergencies 24-hours a day
  • Be available to work outside of normal workdays and office hours to supervise projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What do we require fromyou?

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid CA Driver’s License

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in related field, or equivalent training and experience preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in operating equipment used in skilled trades, power and hand tools, etc.; adhering to safety practices; handling hazardous materials; and planning and managing projects
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing others
  • First-Aid/CPR/AED Certification a plus


Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Able to learn, interpret, and administer school district policies, law, rules and regulations; policies and procedures, agreements; and apply these in relation to school operations; apply and explain rules and regulations
  • Manage and complete numerous functions and tasks simultaneously
  • Able to prepare and present clear and concise reports
  • Able to train and provide work direction to others
  • Able to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
  • Periodically attend evening meetings; travel within and out of District to attend meetings
  • Must be flexible and team-oriented
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work
  • Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
