This seasoned professional will work independently with limited supervision of the Senior Assistant Director – Member Services & Outreach. The individual in this position manages processes for implementing, promoting, and evaluating creative ways to impact the Purdue community with experiences that will inspire and motivate them. These experiences may be both digital and in-person. Strong organizational and prioritization skills are essential for this role as the Assistant Director of Outreach will encounter competing deadlines and multiple tasks simultaneously. The ability to delegate effectively is crucial, and you must also be prepared to handle impromptu projects that demand immediate attention. The Assistant Director for Outreach will hire, supervise, and train a team of student employees who will create outreach programming. They will coach and review the work of their team. This position manages the RecWell website, social media, FusionGo App, Purdue Day of Giving, and the RecWell newsletter. They also have responsibility for campus outreach events and projects such as launch parties, homecoming, freshmen orientation, wellbeing 360 summit, campus fairs and other tabling events, etc. They will work closely to create and manage projects with university development staff to cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with current/future students, faculty/staff, alumni, and friends of Purdue.

Education and Experience:
Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, exercise science, kinesiology, communication, health communication or related area
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience with written communication, video creation, and/or social media management
  • Graduate assistantships and professional internship experience will be considered

• Ability to offer leadership, vision, and goal-oriented work that will contribute to a comprehensive student development and integrated communication program that meets the ever-changing needs of the university and local community
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, manage, and develop students to carry out their duties
• Ability to work with staff to develop their leadership and program management skills
• Must show ability to establish long and short-term goals consistent with the mission of the university and the division
• Must show ability to build, develop, and cultivate relationships across campus and regionally with a variety of constituents
• A successful candidate will be self-motivated, energetic, service-minded and adept at solving problems
• Must possess strong communication (written/oral) as well as interpersonal skills
• Proficient at computer software word processing, graphics/web site design, spreadsheet, electronic communication, proofreading, etc.
• Some evening and weekend work will be required
