The Office of Summer and Winter Programs is an innovative department focused on program initiatives, collaboration, and course management that assists students with college access, retention, and success.
The Assistant Director is a seasoned professional working under limited supervision who leads a team and program with a primary focus on expanding summer credit-bearing educational pathways to, and through, Purdue University via the Early Start and Summer Start programs. The Assistant Director places an emphasis through these programming efforts on supporting students from underserved student populations (e.g., first-generation, low-income, rural, URM), with a special focus on achieving goals and priorities established by the university administration (e.g., Equity Task Force, maximize student potential).
The assistant director balances multiple priorities at once, practices time management, and multitasking, and is intrinsically motivation to meet deadlines. The assistant director works to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results within the area of summer beginner pathways and works independently under limited supervision. The assistant director has responsibility for making moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems, or products to enhance the performance for programs supporting summer beginners. Attention is placed on strategic scholarship initiatives, curriculum development for first-year seminar courses, data analysis, preparing and presenting reports, coaching, and reviewing the work of the New Beginners Coordinators, and operationalizing strategic pathway programming through graduation. The assistant director works closely with enrollment management, student life, student success programs, academic units, and other campus partners.
The Assistant Director reports to the Associate Director, Summer Programs. Opportunity to work remotely outside of peak season is available. Travel is required.
