Dear colleagues,
We are looking for a postdoc researcher on sensor fusion and robotic manipulation at the Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA. The project aims to develop advanced sensor fusion algorithms that will not only improve manipulation performance but also enhance the robot's autonomous decision-making capabilities in manufacturing assembly. By integrating vision and touch modalities, the project intends to enhance robotic manipulation, rendering it more effective, less costly, and capable of handling the complexities of modern manufacturing.
The tentative starting date is Sept 1, 2024. The postdoc will receive an annual salary support of $70,000 continues for 24 months with the option to renew for 12 months. Funding is renewable for a third-year contingent upon available funding.
Research will be conducted within the Mechanisms and Robotic Systems Lab at Purdue University (https://www.purduemars.com/). The postdoc will be supervised by Dr. Yu She, Purdue University School of Industrial Engineering, and Dr. Qiang Qiu Purdue University School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. She’s lab investigates cutting-edge robotic research at the intersection of robot design, tactile sensing, optimal control, and robotic manipulation. Dr. Qiu’s lab (https://web.ics.purdue.edu/~qqiu/#qlab) focuses on computer vision and machine learning.
For this position, we are looking for highly motivated candidates with strong backgrounds in sensory fusion, computer vision, tactile sensing, machine learning, robotic manipulation, and excellent programming skills (python and C/C ). The candidate is expected to have a PhD degree in robotics, AI, or related fields and a proven track record with publications in top conferences or journals relevant to the topic. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) are essential.
