JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking a phlebotomist to work at our Pulmonary Clinic location at Bakersfield, CA. In this role you will provide exceptional customer service, perform skilled specimen collections and be the face of the company. In addition, you will be provided with opportunities for continuous growth within the organization.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Identifying patients and their personal information by reviewing their identity documents.
• They should be able to know how to collect UTI/STI/BLOOD DRAW/URINALYSIS.
• Assessing patient needs, reviewing patient history, and determining the reason(s) for drawing blood.
• Selecting gauge needles and preparing veins or fingers for blood drawing.
• Extracting blood from patients through venipuncture or fingerstick.
• Analyzing blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary.
• Preparing specimens for transportation, including labeling vials accurately and matching blood specimens to patients.
• Supplying diagnostic notes to physicians, other healthcare professionals, and hospitals.
• Keeping and maintaining records of patient names, volume of blood drawn, and diagnostic findings.
• Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment used in the drawing and testing of blood specimens.
• Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must know how to collect UTI/STI/Blood Draw/URINALYSIS
• Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is preferred.
• Previous experience as a phlebotomist required. At least 1 - 2 years' strong phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of legal requirements pertaining to drawing blood, handling specimen samples, and the use of relevant medical equipment.
• Knowledge of testing protocols and the use of testing equipment.
• Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service.
• Strong communication skills: both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfortable working under minimal supervision.
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Must have their own car

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
