Position Overview:

As a First Line Manager, you will oversee and manage a team of 7 territory managers focused on critical care areas and the OR. Your role will be pivotal in developing strong, experienced sales representatives, especially given the recent new hires and several vacant territories in this region.

Responsibilities:

1. Sales Team Management:

• Oversee 7 territory managers, providing guidance to enhance productivity.
• Hire and train sales representatives, and be involved in succession planning.
• Monitor, evaluate, and develop sales representatives through field rides and quarterly/annual reviews.
• Assist in planning and preparing for Regional and Manager meetings.
• Ensure sales representatives maintain professional and productive performance levels.

2. Collaboration with Division Personnel:

• Interface with the training manager to ensure the sales force receives proper training.
• Consult with marketing on issues and assist in prioritizing projects.
• Partner with service and clinical teams to ensure the region receives proper support.
• Consult with finance on selective orders requiring aggressive or unique pricing strategies.

3. Sales and Budget Planning:

• Develop and monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual sales plans and expense budgets to meet sales and revenue objectives.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly forecasts.
• Maintain a field presence to evaluate sales teams and participate in closing large orders.
• Review and document lost business opportunities.
• Monitor the P&L and budgets to ensure profitability.

4. Strategic Coordination:

• Work closely with the West Area Director of Sales on:
  • Short-term and long-range strategic planning
  • Annual sales plans and compensation
  • Market trends and competitive issues
  • Sales forecasting, budgeting, discounting, and inventory control
  • Personnel issues

• Proven track record in managing sales teams, preferably in the critical care areas of hospitals.
• Experience in selling capital equipment is a plus.
