Putnam Plastics is Hiring an Utility- Guide Wire Near Dayville, CT

Summary: The Guide Wire Utility position requires hand unloading plastic coated products off a conveyor and laying it systematically onto a table to complete orders for the next process. This position monitors quality data to ensure tolerances are met on the guidewire lines. This position adheres to manufacturing processes including testing, quality and documenting to ensure the product meets specified criteria contained in the work orders/specifications/IL form. This position normally works in our environmentally controlled/white room. This is a summary only.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Strips ends of product, unloads, and counts product. Works with Operators/Lead to evaluate products/processes to optimize quality and output.
  • Monitors on-line quality data to assure outer diameter (OD) dimensions are within tolerance.
  • Perform, inspect, and package products by using and/or performing quality inspections using a variety of measurements equipment including Tape Measure, Pin gages, Laser Micrometers, and Video Microscopes.
  • Completes documentation in a timely, accurate and neat manner.
Quality:
  • Perform quality inspections/ checks per the quality control plan/blueprint/work order when required.
  • Attention to detail, must be able to complete multiple and repetitive tasks, must be committed to accuracy and quality.
Safety:
  • Adheres to safety requirements/practices/procedures are required, including required PPE/clothing.
  • Follow Safety rules including proper handling practices of chemicals per procedures, follow LOTO and HAZMAT polices refer to SDS when applicable.
Required Qualification:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Able to work in a face-paced department with continuously changing jobs and priorities.
  • Ability to read/write /understand English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals as well as measure in English and metric measurements.
  • Ability to effectively use and/or learn Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Mechanical aptitude to operate and troubleshoot machinery.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extrusion and/or previous manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Previous experience with ISO, FDA, and/or cGMP.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must possess fine hand motor skills to handle small manufacturing tools, QC tools and fine product. Ability to raise arms above shoulder height.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to stand/walk for majority of an 8-hour work shift and lift push pull up to 50 lbs. throughout the shift.
