QDStaff is Hiring an IT Engineering Manager (Software) Near Boca Raton, FL

Join a midsized software company making mobile games as a hands-on IT Engineering Manager responsible for the IT and software development infrastructure for around 120 North American employees in four game studios. This strategic role supports and facilitates game development (the revenue basis for the company), IT strategy and GRC for this soon to be public industry leader. 

The ideal person is an energetic and forward-thinking engineering leader who excels in a dynamic, fast-paced setting and relishes staying at the forefront of technological advancements and willing to get into the detail when required. While this role has strategic and management responsibilities, the subject matter is IT engineering and the best candidates will have strong engineering fundamentals. 

 Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute the organization's IT strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize technology initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and drive innovation.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to ensure the organization remains competitive.
  • Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, ensuring effective collaboration and optimal performance.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and adaptability within the IT department.
  • Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and promote professional development for team members.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and systems.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of data, systems, and networks through robust cybersecurity measures.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
  • Direct the planning and execution of IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Implement project management best practices to drive efficiency and effectiveness in project delivery.
  • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOX).
  • Identify and mitigate IT-related risks, including cybersecurity threats and data breaches.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget, allocating resources effectively to support strategic initiatives.
  • Optimize IT spending by evaluating cost-effectiveness and ROI of technology investments.
  • Collaborate with other executives, department heads, and stakeholders to understand their technology needs and align IT strategies accordingly.
  • Communicate IT initiatives, progress, and challenges to executive leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives to enhance business processes and customer experiences.
  • Explore and leverage emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and IoT to drive innovation.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with executives, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Expertise in assessing and mitigating IT-related risks, including cybersecurity risks.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOX).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or Information Technology
  • Master's degree (MBA, MSc) is highly beneficial.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in leadership roles within the IT field.
  • Proven experience in leading digital transformation initiatives, leveraging modern technologies to drive innovation, improve business processes, and enhance the customer experience.
  • Experience in implementing and managing org-wide mission critical IT projects.
  • Technical expertise with the ability to apply them strategically.in areas such as:
    • infrastructure architecture
    • cloud technologies
    • cybersecurity
    • data management
    • software development
    • emerging technologies

Environment:

  • Windows Servers ProLiant (or equivalent)
  • VMware vSphere 6.x and iSCSI-based Storage Area Networks
  • SQL Server (2012 ) Administration
  • Power BI and/or PerformancePoint
  • SQL Databases, App Insights, Stream Analytics and Machine Learning
  • Cisco / Dell Switches, Next-Gen Firewalls (Palo Alto) and EndPoint Security Management (McAfee EPO)
  • Microsoft AD and O365
  • SharePoint
  • Task automation primarily with object-oriented Powershell
  • DevOps Engineering with: GitLab &Git Clients, NPM Repositories, GitLab Continuous Integration, Kubernetes, ProGet, Docker, PowerShell, NodeJS

Location:

  • This role is based is in Boca Raton, FL
  • It is in-office 5 days per week
  • Relocation expenses are paid
