Position Overview

QinetiQ US is looking for an entry-level corporate attorney to handle routine and emerging issues which arise in our company and require legal advice and counsel, as well as to contribute to the administration of our small corporate law department.

Responsibilities

  • Working under the supervision of the General Counsel, as well as at the direction of other experienced corporate counsel
  • Manage legal issues of importance to the company, including those pertaining to:
    • Government and commercial contracts, including drafting and negotiating favorable terms and conditions
    • Litigation and disputes
    • Internal investigations
    • Ethics and compliance
    • Employment law
    • M&A diligence and integration
    • Intellectual property
    • Corporate matters
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues throughout the company and with outside counsel
  • Provide counsel to management and other stakeholders on corporate governance, risk, and compliance matters, to include creating and periodically reviewing company policies
  • Research, anticipate, and guard the company against emerging legal risks

Required Qualifications

  • Have a degree from an accredited U.S. Juris Doctorate program;
  • Be licensed to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction (or have the prospect of obtaining licensure within the first six months of employment) and eligible for Corporate Counsel registration in the Virginia Bar;
  • Possess outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively;
  • Be flexible and tenacious in solving complex legal and business challenges;
  • Have strong research and organizational skills, including an eye for detail, a creative mind, and the ability to shift seamlessly from task to task;
  • Be able to work independently on a project basis, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines; and
  • Be intellectually curious and motivated to learn about a wide range of topics, including general corporate matters, employment issues, vendor and customer relationships, and regulatory risk management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with U.S. government contracting principles, processes, and regulations
  • Familiarity with business-organization legal structures
  • Experience in a corporate legal department, including exposure to a wide variety of corporate legal issues
