Position Overview

The Safety Coordinator will review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and support programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent occupational disease or injury.

The position is responsible for oversight of campus safety, including ownership of building and grounds security. The Safety Coordinator will develop and present trainings to reduce the frequency and severity of industrial injuries.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluate and analyze work environments and processes to identify opportunities to standardize operating procedures to prevent or reduce industrial injuries
• Control, eliminate, and / or prevent occupational disease or injury by application of proper control through eliminations, substitutions, engineering, administration, or Personal Protective Equipment - PPE
• Develop employee trainings on safety, hazard identification, and PPE use, care, and maintenance. Present trainings during New Employee Orientations, hold Tool & Machine Equipment trainings and coordinate the Post Offer Employment Testing program
• Investigate incidents, lead safety committees, and conduct line audits to promote a safe work environment
• Collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies.
• Conduct investigations and complete professional documentation of all safety and security incidents, including the review of video footage and interviewing of witnesses
• Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment and administer and maintain records for all safety-related training and certifications.
• Conduct facility inspections and safety audits
• Maintain PPE supplies in equipment dispensing machines and serve as the point of contact for safety equipment vendors

Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

• Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures
• Clean driving record
• First Aid and CPR certified or able and willing to receive training to obtain certification.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software : Excel, Word, Outlook, plus social media and VDO surveillance

Preferred Education and Experience

The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and / or related expertise to qualify for this position.

• Bachelor's degree in safety-related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Two years of safety experience in a manufacturing
