Our client in the Grand Rapids area is seeking a 1st Shift Job Parts-Saw Operator. Our client is one of Michigan’s largest producers of CNC, gun drilled and automatic turned products. Our client is not afraid to think differently, and they actively empower their members to get creative to help find solutions, ensuring steady continuous improvement.
Employment: Temp to Hire
Pay: $17 and up depending on experience
1st shift 5am-4pm
Qualifications:
- Candidates must have some experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably metal) with a strong focus on quality and teamwork.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, stock numbers and cut lists.
- Ability to use a tape measure.
- Ability to adjust saws to proper miters.
- Previous experience with Gravity Feed band saws.
- Previous iron worker experience preferred.
- Ability to clean areas and saws.
- Ability to organize materials.
- Able to read, write, and speak English.
- Trust-worthy, motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation
- Utilize hand tools to adjust the steel to ensure quality of the cut, may push, pull to adjust the steel on the table
- Adjust the controls to set and regulate machining factors, such as pressure, speed and angle of the saw
- Monitor and inspect the saw while cutting the steel to ensure proper cut and difficulty while cutting
- Count and record finished goods and handle the shipping instructions.
- Tag and mark finished goods and drop material and place the drop material into the proper area
- Dump waste material in a tub to be scrapped
- Use bolt cutters, band cutters, crowbars and other hand tools to perform the essential job functions
- Must read a tape measure and micrometer
