Estimators will review plans and specifications, coordinate with vendors for pricing, as well as perform material take offs and labor take offs. They will be required to complete Quality Buildings scope of work bid sheets, review final bid amounts, and assist as directed with submittals. Gathering all necessary information to compile accurate estimates and accurate written proposals is an essential function of this role.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Activity and Resource planning:

• Review plans and specs for scope of work within each project
• Assess any issues and submit RFI’s as needed
• Perform material and Labor T.O. in Planswift
• Complete Quality Buildings scope of work Bid sheet including Job Specific notes and RFI’s
• Ensure plans, addenda and specs are accurately reviewed and investigated
• Effectively communicate, coordinate, and organize all project bid packets
• Assess proper project material and documentation needed for planning purposes
• Review supplier scopes for comparison and completeness
• Provide necessary recommendations for effective bidding and securing of projects
• Perform accurate and complete takeoffs
• Coordinate all elements of bidding and securing projects to ensure seamless process and high level of customer service
• Participate and provide valuable input for all project related meetings in partnership with necessary departments
• Support department with ongoing feedback and improvements to enhance estimating
• Effectively work within department structure to manage sales calls and work with team members
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

• Minimum 4 years combined field and/or office experience in blueprint reading, specifications, computer use (excel) and vendor communications

Required Skills :

• Ability to review and assimilate information from plans and specs (build project in his/ her mind)
• Computer literacy and ability to learn new programs
• Advanced skills in written communication
• Basic math and carpentry
• Knowledge of reading blueprints/drawings
• Advanced in Microsoft Office suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Flexible and adaptable

• This role reports to Director of Business Development

SUPERVISION

• The position does not have any regular responsibility for overseeing or supervising the work of other team members, however teamwork and direct communication with each other is expected and highly encouraged
