a Catholic school in Alexandria, VA, is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Middle School Social Studies and Literature Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the complexities of history and the beauty of literature, fostering critical thinking and a love for learning. This role is integral in guiding students to understand and appreciate diverse perspectives while incorporating and adhering to Catholic values and teachings in their education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Plan, develop, and deliver engaging and comprehensive lesson plans for social studies and literature in accordance with the school’s curriculum guidelines and academic standards.
  • Instruction: Teach middle school students (grades 6-8) social studies and literature, integrating interactive and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning.
  • Adherence to Catholic Teaching: Ensure that all instructional materials and classroom discussions in social studies and literature reflect and adhere to Catholic teachings, values, and perspectives.
  • Assessment: Design and administer assessments to evaluate student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to support student growth.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, implementing effective classroom management strategies to support student learning and engagement.
  • Student Support: Offer individualized support and guidance to students, addressing diverse learning needs and fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Role Model: Serve as a positive role model, exemplifying the values and teachings of Christ in interactions with students, staff, and the school community.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the school administration to support student development and school initiatives.
