R&L Global Inc is Hiring a Cloud Operations Engineer Near Ocala, FL

Cloud Operations Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing the cloud infrastructure spanning Azure and AWS environments. This role includes monitoring system performance, implementing security protocols, optimizing resource allocation, and maximizing cost efficiency through automation. The Cloud Operations Engineer will also maintain knowledge of the latest cloud technologies and trends to support business needs and ensure the stability and efficiency of the cloud environment.

Cloud Operations Engineer responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Create, maintain and support Azure Data Factory pipelines for R L’s Data Lake to ensure an efficient and stable operating environment.
  • Oversee the Azure Data Lake operating environment, monitoring the successful completion of pipelines.
  • Follow operational procedures to re-run pipelines or escalate to Tier 2 Support as necessary.
  • Maintain inventory of Data Factory pipelines, complete with information to track which tables are touched, run-times, support personnel, etc.
  • Monitor utilization to know when provisioned resources are idle or underutilized along with recommendations for how to dynamically spin up and take down resources to make usage more efficient. Automate processes as needed.
  • Work with Information Security organization to ensure Cloud environment is secure and complies with established requirements.
  • Track Cloud agreements to understand long-term commitments and month-to-month relationships to identify if trends dictate negotiating new agreements to achieve better discounts.
  • Analyze current Azure spending and provide detailed breakdowns by application and by environment (Production and non-Production).
  • Create management reports (historical, trending and forecast) for Cloud resource utilization and cost.
  • Collaborate with other technology and business teams to develop sound automation solutions. Troubleshoot issues and find practical solutions to address barriers.
  • Educate the team and encourage the use of Azure best practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest Cloud technologies and explore new trends, looking at how they can be applied to current and future business needs.
  • Understand and support business continuity protocols and disaster recovery programs for Cloud applications.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems Management, or equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or other cloud-related certifications a plus.
  • 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure and cloud operations management.
  • 1 years of hands-on experience specifically with Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
  • Prior experience in cloud operations management, with a focus in monitoring environments, resource provisioning, configuration management, deployment, automation and incident response.
  • Prior experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Prior experience with cloud cost management tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with database schema design and data management a plus 
  • Deep understanding of IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service) services on Azure and AWS.
  • Proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Terraform).
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and self-motivation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with both internal and external business partners
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
