The Position: 

Rêve Preparatory Charter School is seeking an engaging Math Instructional Coach for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. The Instruction Coach works daily to oversee and support the ongoing examination and improvement of Rêve Preparatory Charter School’s educational program and ensures that the school’s mission of educational excellence and innovation are fulfilled. 

The Instructional Coach works closely with the School Director in establishing and maintaining a fiercely positive school culture, creating a college preparatory curriculum for each grade, including the assessments and scope and sequence, and coaching teachers in classroom management and lesson creation and execution. 

The Instructional Coach will drive our success in developing an integrated curriculum that allows our students access to the most selective colleges and universities. 

Possible Positions

  • Math Instructional Coach - experience with Eureka Math

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead in the development of a state of the art curriculum based on best practices of high performing schools
  • Create rigorous, standards based interim assessments for Reading Comprehension, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Writing for every grade, as well systems to evaluate the outcomes and respond to data
  • Work with the School Director to develop, implement and maintain every detail of the school’s systems and procedures, including homework, discipline, transitions, entrance and exit, community celebrations, breakfast, lunch, and classroom culture so that our school is structured and highly joyful with a focus on growth
  • Coach teachers on executing daily, weekly and interim assessments and analysis, implementing highly responsive instructional action plans that bring 100% of scholars to mastery of 100% of objectives such that every single student masters every single standard
  • Work in partnership with the School Director to ensure program alignment with our mission, vision, and academic goals
  • Create system for tracking school culture and monitors, analyzes and defines action plans based on this data
  • To oversee professional development for faculty and to assist in faculty evaluation

Ongoing Responsibilities: 

  • Support and co-lead aspects of the professional development program throughout the summer and school year that
  • aligns with faculty and curriculum/instructional needs. The program should rely both on in-house and external expertise.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the curriculum incorporate multicultural and cross-cultural skill building strategies
  • Participate in the supervision and evaluation of teachers as directed by the School Director
  • Plan and lead, in conjunction with the School Director, weekly Teaching and Learning Committee meetings, providing
  • faculty opportunities for reflection, sharing of best practice, and recommendations for changes
  • Work in conjunction with the School Director to design a course schedule that enhances best practice in the classroom

Key Position Outputs: 

  • Ensures systems and procedures at school are clear, communicated, and consistently implemented to 100% 
  • Establishes scope and sequence for ongoing courses, and upcoming years of curriculum
  • Creates and leads data evaluation for rigorous, standards-based interim assessments for Reading Comprehension, Math, Science, Social Studies and Writing, in all grades
  • Defines pacing plan and daily scope and sequence for English and Language Arts (ELA) and Math in all grades
  • Drives teacher growth at high levels through individual goal setting around classroom culture, curriculum development, lesson creation and lesson execution, and data analysis and action planning
  • Builds staff-wide professional development programming to lead teachers in analyzing student data highly responsive action plans that bring 100% of scholars to mastery of 100% of grade level standards
  • Establishes positive relationships with families, staff and community 

Background and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree is required; Master’s degree preferred; and a strong background in K-5 curriculum design, and knowledge of current trends in literacy and math
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in the classroom with track record of student success in the classroom and around student culture. Texas teaching certification.
  • Deep knowledge of elementary curriculum with particular knowledge of literacy development
  • Proven leadership and ability to build a strong, collaborative, transparent and motivated team • Familiarity/expertise with technology as a teaching/learning resource and best practice in technology integration
  • Able to coach teachers in use of data, lesson planning, curriculum building, action planning, and execution
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and quickly incorporate that feedback 
  • Innovative, creative, and willing to take risks
  • Ability to take initiative, highly organized and efficient, self-motivated
  • Strong communicator and relationship builder with adults, including peers and families
  • Experience with and/or understanding of life experiences in underserved communities.
