Job Title: Outside Sales Lead

Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, At-Will

Reports to: Outside Sales Supervisor

Department: Sales and Marketing

Location: In Field: Lancaster, CA

Location Status: Work will be primarily performed at a designated field worksite location based out of a central Race Communications worksite. Occasional travel to and work from other Race offices or other off-site locations will be required.

Pay: Salary Bonus Incentive Potential | Hourly rate $23-25/hr. | Total anticipated yearly compensation between $48,000-85,000 annual

Summary:

As an Outside Sales Lead, you will be responsible for leading and growing Race Communications outside sales, driving sales strategies, and evaluating their effectiveness through timely reporting. You will possess strong leadership skills, a proven track record in sales management, and the ability to develop and implement innovative sales approaches.

This individual should be able to communicate and work effectively with external service representatives and internal team members who possess a wide variety of backgrounds, personalities, and communication skills. This individual should be able to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving environment while maintaining a productive professional demeanor. This individual must be capable of working independently, as well as collaboratively with other Race team members across teams and levels of our organization.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Eligibility for US Employment without sponsorship
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • A valid California driver's license, subject to successful verification through a DMV check, is mandatory
  • Two or more years of sales experience required
  • Two or more years of leadership experience
  • Proven foundation and understanding of marketing and digital landscape
  • Experience in platforms such as Hubspot, Salesforce, or other CRMs
  • The ability to effectively communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension, as necessary for effective job performance and workplace communication
  • Proficiency in Spanish Language a plus

  • Proficient use of MS Office applications including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; teleconferencing applications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales Team Leadership and Support:

  • Oversees a team of outside sales representatives
  • Provides ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring for local team of outside sales representatives
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment to maximize productivity and morale
  • Performs monthly performance evaluations and provides reports for management review
  • Leads by example and follows guidelines and policies outlined in the Race Communications Employee Handbook

Sales Outreach and Customer Engagement:

  • Sources new sales opportunities through door-to-door education of Race fiber optic internet, phone, and television services
  • Identifies, assesses, and understands customer needs and requirements to achieve customer satisfaction
  • Identifies potential sales opportunities, and generates interest and sales opportunities
  • Builds relationships and trust with customers through open and interactive communication (listening)

Sales Goals and Performance:

  • Conducts monthly sales evaluations and provides reports for management review
  • Meets or exceeds monthly sales goals set by your manager
  • Manages creation and presentation of quotations for opportunities as they are identified
  • Generates new business and promotes growth of Race products

Product Knowledge and Customer Service:

  • Gains and retains extensive product knowledge as well as detailed comprehension of customer's requirements for Race fiber optic internet, phone, and television products
  • Provides accurate, valid, and complete information when using our CRM and other software as provided

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Keeps detailed records of customer interactions, processes customer accounts, and files documents
  • Follows sales team procedures and guidelines, along with policies outlined in the Race Communications Employee Handbook

Sales Campaigns and Events:

  • Participates in sales and marketing campaigns and attends outside events (travel required)

Vehicle Maintenance and Travel:

  • Maintains vehicle/equipment pre-op/post-op to be prepared to perform required duties
  • Maintains a clean driving record as defined by the current fleet insurance underwriter
  • Observes hazards and reports any concerns or accidents to a supervisor or safety professional; participates in the investigation process as needed
  • Travels to multiple service locations across California and occasionally beyond, including during adverse weather conditions, while adhering strictly to safety protocols
  • Commutes extensively by vehicle daily, both indoors and outdoors, to visit Race clients’ businesses and/or residences
  • Flexibility to work overtime, including nights and weekends, as necessary

Safety Protocols:

  • Does not enter homes under any circumstances
  • Prioritizes safety at all times during door knocking activities
  • Practices safe driving if your route involves traveling
  • Carries identification and any necessary credentials
  • Dresses appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable footwear
  • Keeps a charged mobile phone with you for communication
  • Maintains awareness of potential hazards like uneven terrain, loose pets, or slippery walkways
  • Maintains a safe distance from aggressive or unrestrained animals
  • Avoids walking on driveways or paths that may be slippery
  • Stays cautious when approaching homes, in the event of feeling unsafe or encountering a hostile situation, promptly leaves the area and notifies supervisor
  • Stays cautious when approaching homes with "No Soliciting" signs or other indications of disinterest
  • Ensures someone knows your location and approximate schedule for the day; Does not leave assigned area without contacting your supervisor
  • Carries a personal alarm or whistle for added safety, if preferred
  • Attends safety orientation sessions provided by your employer and follow their safety protocols and guidelines

Lead Responsibilities:

  • Leads and supports employees with Safety and Compliance matters within multiple departments in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • As this role develops, lead responsibilities may include direct supervision of subordinates, along with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Other duties as necessary may include but are not limited to:

  • Supports recruiting efforts as needed
  • Successfully complete assigned training and examinations, as well as participate in ongoing performance and development reviews, and goal setting
  • Be available to participate in internal or external meetings, special functions, and professional development opportunities

All new employees will participate in the mandatory 'Speedway to Success' (Speedway) orientation at one our offices located in either Tehachapi, Yuba City, Chico, or South San Francisco, CA. The duration of the Speedway program spans from 1-3 weeks, depending on the position. During Speedway the schedule will vary; you may not work full 8-hour days and there may be off days. Applicants further than 50 miles from these training locations will be provided with necessary travel accommodations as part of the onboarding process. Applicants 50 miles or less from these locations will be considered regular commute. For those working remotely, virtual attendance will depend on position requirements.
