THE JOB

Reporting to the CEO and leading a small but mighty team, you will be responsible for:

  • Owning the vision for, details behind, and articulation of the Camp Galileo summer program
  • Creating and iterating upon the definitive, comprehensive-yet-streamlined playbook off of which we run our camp programs
  • Coordinating the annual camp program launch cycle so that each camp–and the entire organization–is prepared to deliver the best possible experience from Day 1
  • Collaborating, communicating, and coordinating across multiple departments to ensure each team is involved, informed, and productively contributing to execution of the program playbook

Success in this role will require a deep understanding of experiential program design, project management, and training & development. You must be customer-oriented, business-savvy, a systems thinker, and comfortable working across diverse functions including operations, technology, camp directors, finance, supply chain and more. We are a people-driven organization–you must combine your skills with a deep desire to collaborate and improve staff effectiveness and experience.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

Camp Product Ownership

  • Design and disseminate resources conveying program details, expectations, policies and standard operating procedures. Consolidate topics including but not limited to: logistics, camp schedules, safety protocols, and non-curricular activities and “magic moments.” Leverage knowledge management and collaboration tools to align teams around the product vision, and produce artifacts such as journey maps, process diagrams, program quality rubrics, and more.
  • Ensure product expectations and practices are incorporated into core processes, systems, and communications, driving fidelity to the product vision across teams and camp locations.
  • Propose, prioritize, and project-manage high-ROI program improvements on an ongoing basis. Oversee testing of hypotheses and new product features.
  • Create and monitor KPIs to understand and improve product health, as well as customer and staff satisfaction.
  • Collaborate across the organization: with the Curriculum & Instruction team to integrate curriculum-driven rotations into the overall program; with Field Operations to align product design, facilities plans, daily operating procedures, and Camp Director management; with Marketing, Customer Service, and District/School Sales teams to ensure programs are brilliantly conveyed to and well understood by customers.

Camp Launch Program Management

  • Supported by a Program Manager (direct report), execute the annual camp launch cycle, coordinating timelines, interdependencies, communications, and resource allocation throughout the 9-12 months leading up to Day 1.
  • Maintain an agile approach, consistently responding to blockers, logging changes and decisions, and communicating decisions and needs clearly through the organization.

Program Staff Development & Training

  • Supported by a Director of Learning & Development (direct report), ensure that program staff are ready, willing, and able to deliver on the camp program vision through a combination of e-learning, in-person preparation, and overall staff experience design.
  • Ensure that content facing HQ and summer program staff is reflective of the most current “source of truth” for camp program details, and that decisions and changes are effectively cascaded to all.

YOU ARE

  • Inspired by Galileo’s mission to develop innovators who envision and create a better world, and passionate about services for youth and families. You have a wealth of knowledge about youth enrichment and/or experiential learning programs, and you think customer-first!
  • A dot-connector and systems thinker. You see across space, time, and organizational boundaries and create connected ecosystems of people, processes, technologies, and dependencies.
  • A thought partner who communicates openly and honestly, sharing and building upon diverse perspectives. You incorporate input from across functions and organizational levels, and have a knack for keeping everyone moving in the same direction.
  • Comfortable with complexity, but motivated to simplify. You can manage all of the nitty gritty details, but you simplify where possible and always keep things simple for customers and staff.
  • A visionary change agent and a strong change manager. You understand even the best designs only work when those implementing them are confident, committed, and understand their role. And you know how to make that happen.

COMPENSATION

We anticipate compensation for this Full-Time, exempt position to be $120,000 - $160,000 . Exact compensation may vary and will be based on multiple factors, including geography and professional experience.
