Position Title: Information Systems Educator

Department: Informatics

Division: Radiology and Imaging Specialists

Reports To: Director of Informatics

Type of Shift: Part Time

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Information Systems Educator is to provide onboarding training of the electronic medical record (EMR) applications and subsequent training on system enhancements, upgrades and related workflows to physicians and staff utilizing adult learning theory.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of Radiology and Imaging Specialists.
  • Establishes and maintains positive peer, leadership, and customer relationships, interacting positively and productively with teams across organizational lines.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation capabilities in customer interactions and technical discussion.
  • Must be computer literate and understand the integration of applications and their impact on business processes and operations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Works with project manager and teams in implementations of new systems, system upgrades and enhancements of current system(s) functionality, participating in any phase of large or small projects.
  • Develops an understanding of the application functionality, reporting capabilities, interfacing and integration associated with clinical applications.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical System Analysts to develop and maintain EMR and other related training content and materials.
  • Applies concepts of adult learning theory and action learning in development and delivery of training via a variety of blended learning modalities, classroom, video-teleconference, telephonic, electronic.
  • Develop comprehensive training strategy.
  • Manage project training requirements and scheduling of resources.
  • Develop and monitor comprehensive training plan and training documentation.
  • Monitor and review the progress of end user training by using questionnaires and through discussions with organizational managers and Project Managers
  • Provide leadership in resolving specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address issues and challenges related to the EMR system and related applications.
  • Utilizes Radiology and Imaging Specialists ticketing system for documenting all troubleshooting, education, or work efforts.
  • Must be able to function in dynamic environment subject to changes in schedules, locations (remote vs. onsite) and priorities, working on multiple projects/issues concurrently. Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to the needs of the systems supported.
  • Reports and takes direction from the EMR Applications Supervisor and the Director of Informatics.
  • Appropriately escalate issues to the EMR Applications Supervisor and the Director of Informatics.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, adjusting approaches to reflect varying knowledge levels of population served.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • College Degree (AS, Diploma, B.A., B.S.) in a field of study such as information sciences, education or a healthcare related field OR a minimum of 3 years’ experience in healthcare training (clinic, hospital, or health system), including clinical workflow and terminology.
  • Must have experience providing training on an EMR or other clinical systems in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, OneNote, Teams etc.).

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

  • Position may require, at times, travel between associated clinics and off-site departments.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching. Normal vision range, hearing and hand to eye coordination and manual dexterity; the ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
  • May require lifting up to 50 pounds.
