udes making whiskey from grain to glass, handling our cattle and other farm operations, property maintenance, office tasks, and whatever else needs to be done. *Position Overview* Reports to the Senior Bourbon Makers. Position is based out of Ragged Branch West in Waynesboro, VA. Travel between Ragged Branch West, Ragged Branch East and Pounding Branch Farm, both in Ivy, VA, will be required. Position is salary based with an expected 40 hours/week. Could be 4x10hr shifts or 5x8hr shifts depending on needs. Some weekend work as needed - primarily feeding animals in the morning. Ragged Branch is a small, independent bourbon distillery run by family and friends. Everyone on our team wears many hats by necessity, and we all strive for success of the company so that we can all advance and grow. The ideal Bourbon Maker Apprentice candidate will have the skills and experience below but more importantly the ability to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges with a positive attitude. We are looking for someone who wants to make a career and grow with us. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: · All aspects of raw whiskey-making: milling, cooking, fermenting, distilling, and cutting to proof · All aspects of barreling: priming, filling, double-oaking, moving, and putting away barrels · All aspects of creating finished product: sampling, dumping, cutting, bottling · Feeding and caring for our cattle and other animals on the farm · Loading and unloading trucks of bottles, barrels, grain and other ingredients, supplies and miscellaneous items with a forklift and pallet jack · Keeping a clean and organized workspace in the distillery, office, and farm · Recording all aspects of the day in distillery software · Performing other computer tasks including email correspondence, basic spreadsheets, running reports, analyzing data, etc. *Essential Skills and Experience* Experience in a manufacturing/production environment Experience with large farm equipment including tractors, mixers, etc. Experience feeding and caring for/handling cattle and other animals Experience driving all types of vehicles and hauling all types of trailers Fork lift experience High level of mechanical aptitude and experience, ability to learn new machinery Ability to quickly learn distillation and bourbon-making process Ability to react quickly to problems and solve them with a cool head Experience following recipes and strict protocols Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft/Apple Office products and G Suite, and ability to keep excellent records - attention to detail Experience with point of sale software and hardware Excellent written and verbal communication skills Customer service experience Clean Driving record *Physical Requirements* · Ability to work in all weather conditions indoors and out · Regular ladder-climbing · Ability to lift 50 lbs above your shoulders repeatedly · Ability to roll/maneuver/position 500lb full bourbon barrel · Ability to use caution around wet/slippery conditions and hot steam/boiling liquids · Ability to bend, crawl, and climb in tight spaces *Additional requirements* · Ability to sample small amounts of alcohol as part of the production process · Potentially assist in tasting room operations · Potentially assist in sales and marketing efforts including customer tastings Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $50,000.00 per year Benefits: * Health insurance * Paid sick time * Paid time off * Retirement plan * Vision insurance Schedule: * 10 hour shift * 8 hour shift * Monday to Friday * Weekends as needed Ability to Relocate: * Waynesboro, VA 22980: Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person
