Job Title: Supervisor of Creative Assets

Division/Department: Rail Events Inc.

Reports To: Director of Production

Type of position: Exempt/Salary

Employee Classification: Regular

Compensation: $50,000 - $65,000

Location: Durango, CO. This position requires both domestic and international travel with a majority of travel falling within Q4.

Job Summary: The Supervisor of Creative Assets (SCA) takes a lead role in overseeing the management of all creative assets within the Rail Events portfolio. The position works hands on with the Rail Events Inc. (REI) Licensing Managers, licensees and the Rail Events Productions (REP) team to assist with design and the creative process as it relates to Rail Events branded events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the REI team to support the creative process of building and improving events with new and existing licensee railroads.
  • Consult with licensee railroads to envision new and updated ways to bring brands to life.
  • Participate on-site with clients as needed in the set up and oversight of event design from inception to completion.
  • Work to maintain and further develop an internal library of design materials for all REI events.
  • Maintain REI and REP subscriptions and licensees for company assets.
  • Manage company assets in many forms including but not limited to scenic and set design, audio design, lighting design, costume design, and graphic design.
  • Play an active role in event script writing and adaptation to best create event plans for various licensee railroads and other internal projects.
  • Create design elements for new events by adapting approved materials.
  • Take a leading role in assuring that design work both internal and by licensees is true to the brands and source material.
  • Survey existing host railroads to determine opportunities for quality improvements in event execution.
  • Conduct site evaluations at REI licensee railroads as needed.
  • Create and present training seminars and classes to representatives from licensee railroads with a goal of guiding hosts through the creative process.

Requirements

 Education, Skill & Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience as a theatrical designer in multiple disciplines preferred
  • Have a working knowledge of scenic and set design, audio design, lighting design, costume design, and graphic design.
  • Past work experience in technical production with experience as a scenic designer, lighting designer, and audio designer preferred
  • Experience working with branded items and strong adherence to source material strongly preferred
  • Experience in event management strongly preferred
  • Experience as an AutoCAD draftsman strongly preferred
  • Ability to work creatively and collaboratively alongside the production staff
  • Possess a well-spoken manner in personal communications and proofreading proficiency desirable
  • Self-motivation and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate, recognize and solve practical problems and resolve issues
  • Experience in and commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams
  • Experience working around railroads is preferred but not required

Work Environment:

  • Time spent in an office setting
  • Significant time spent traveling both domestically and internationally with a majority of travel falling within Q4
