Job Summary

As a Dental Director, you will serve as the clinical leader for the oral health program, overseeing all dental services, including primary, secondary, and preventive care. This role requires an 80% clinical and 20% administrative focus. You will ensure the effective delivery of oral health services, aligned with the mission and goals of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical support on treatment plans and oversee all dental services.
• Audits & Compliance: Perform monthly chart audits for dentists and hygienists, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Team Management: Lead monthly Dental Provider meetings and conduct annual performance reviews.
• Community Engagement: Attend regional and state dental association meetings; represent the organization in the community.
• Operational Oversight: Collaborate with the Director of Dental Operations and the finance department to meet clinical and financial goals.
• Patient Care: Personally provide dental services and ensure compliance with HIPAA and infection control protocols.
• Organizational Support: Regularly meet with key stakeholders, including the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Dental Operations.

Leadership and Supervision

• Team Building: Ensure the organization is staffed with a full complement of clinical staff, fostering a high-performing team environment.
• Performance Management: Coach, direct, and assess the performance of all staff members, promoting growth and development.
• Compliance: Manage relationships with regulatory agencies and ensure adherence to industry standards.

Essential Clinical Responsibilities

• Patient Examination: Diagnose and treat dental/oral conditions and refer patients for specialty consultation when necessary.
• Record Management: Accurately document patient interactions and treatment plans in dental records.
• Outreach: Educate the community on oral health and disease prevention through outreach opportunities.
• Collaboration: Participate in routine meetings with peers and other clinic staff.

Education and/or Experience

• License: Must hold a license to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of clinical dentistry experience. An advanced degree in business, public health, healthcare administration, or a related field is preferred.

Skills and Qualifications

• Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading dental care teams and establishing strong business relationships.
• Expertise: Substantial knowledge of dental sciences and experience managing dental or oral health programs.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with JCAHO, CMS, OSHA, CDC, ADA standards, and federal regulations governing dental care.
• Team Development: Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead high-performing teams.
