job summary:

Randstad is seeking a Sr. Program Manager to lead a critical multi-business area program focused on driving operations performance improvements at Washington Union Station. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in rail, transportation, engineering, or process-driven industries such as GE, Toyota, or large financial institutions. This role is highly metrics-driven, requiring experience in project implementation, BPRE, Six Sigma/Lean, Continuous Improvement, or industrial engineering. The candidate will manage Continuous Improvement teams, ensuring effective project lifecycle management and delivery of key initiatives to enhance through-train and on-time performance.

responsibilities:
  • Lead a multi-business area program focused on driving operational performance improvements at Washington Union Station, with an emphasis on enhancing through-train and on-time performance.
  • Manage cross-functional teams, including Continuous Improvement (CI) resources, ensuring successful project lifecycle management and delivery of key operational changes.
  • Oversee the development and execution of detailed project plans, including charters, schedules, and risk management strategies to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement methodologies to optimize processes, reduce inefficiencies, and drive measurable improvements in operational performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and financial teams to ensure alignment of project goals with overall business objectives, facilitating seamless execution of operational changes.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to track the effectiveness of implemented changes, continuously refining strategies to meet evolving business needs and performance targets.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial oversight, and risk management processes, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Present regular updates to senior leadership, providing data-driven insights, progress reports, and recommendations for future initiatives.
  • Lead training and workshops to upskill project teams in areas such as process optimization, project management, and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Provide detailed work products from previous roles, including project charters, MS Project schedules, risk logs, and examples of process standards and internal controls applied in large-scale operations.
